This is just scandulous. Even if none of the remains could not be identified, there was a more dignified way to have done this.

edited to add "could not"

Did you bother to read your link, Polite? Where then did you get the idea that the remains "could not be identified? These were the materials used in DNA testing. We know exactly who they belonged to, and the story says the families have been notified about what wound up happening to what they declined to receive.

We set a tremendously high standard in how we handle the bodies of our war dead, and that standard was not met in these cases. That needs to be addressed, and corrected, but for you to just go spouting such bullshit says more about you, than it does about the staff at Dover.

that's absolutely horrible...........

it does say this, though --

The practice of cremating and dumping remains in a landfill was limited to body parts that families of the war dead had said they did not want to receive, officials stated.

but still... it seems like something could've been done in a better way...

And the author/editor of the piece wrote for maximum shock value, Lilly.

How we treat these remains is an interesting question. Our numbers of dead are low in these wars, compared to other ones, but if that should change, we might wish we had taken this opportunity to find a respectful solution. We are basically talking about vials of ash, so a little mausoleum on the parade grounds of each boot camp base could probably go a very long way in providing a last resting place. Without the coffee grounds.

Yes, or perhaps a special plot at Arlington National Cemetery.

Actually they have a better solution in place since 2008. They bury these partial remains at sea.

You need to get a grip Rich. I never said the bodies "could not be identified", thats just you not being able to read a simple post.

As for me spouting off, that wasnt my intention, I just posted how disgraceful the whole episode is. No doubt you feel better for bringing the thread down to your own disgusting level though.
