erieangel -> Rush admits that media is conservative (11/10/2011 5:19:42 PM)

if it weren't for MSNBC we wouldn't have any liberal sound bites. I've told Cookie I'm sick of it, ban MSNBC, and we can't, 'cause there's no other place to get liberal sound bites. There isn't any other place. I mean CNN is just insane over there. They emphasize their hosts, they have guests, but just roll tape on 'em and it's so boring. It's not worth putting anything from CNN on the air.

If it weren't for MSNBC there wouldn't be any liberal sound bites. Now, that has to mean something. That has to mean that they're rare, that they're not everywhere.

When leading conservative media heads use the words "liberal media" they know they're lying.  The politicians know they're lying .  Everybody knows they're lying except the base voters who lap it all up.

Mainstream media to a great extent serves the government-corporate complex which is interested in conservative message. Conservatism is directed to preserving the current power structure. So, there is some logic and justification as the mainstream news media helps to preserve the general order in the society.  People can not handle the truth (at least this is what all governments firmly believe). For an observer, it is obvious, the news and discussions are carefully chosen and filtered.

erieangel -> RE: Rush admits that media is conservative (11/10/2011 5:51:16 PM)

I'm not so sure that's what Rush was getting at, however.  If you read the entire story, Rush was bemoaning the fact that he had to go to MSNBC for sound bites.  That he even airs the liberal view point at all is amazing, but then he wouldn't be able to ridicule liberals as effectively.

willbeurdaddy -> RE: Rush admits that media is conservative (11/10/2011 6:09:05 PM)

WTG totally misrepresenting what he said.

Hillwilliam -> RE: Rush admits that media is conservative (11/10/2011 6:10:22 PM)

OK, wilbur, what did he mean? Please clarify.

He did not, of course say that media is conservative.  What he did was that there is only one clear liberal news outlet.  And yet, he and most other conservatives are always harping on all of that so-called liberal news.

Too bad he didnt say that either. Reading comprehension 101.

And if you admit he didnt say that the media was conservative why is that your subject line?

erieangel -> RE: Rush admits that media is conservative (11/10/2011 6:35:48 PM)

"if it weren't for MSNBC we wouldn't have any liberal sound bites."

I take it, Rush would use another liberal news outlet if he could find one.  He hates MSNBC, but uses their sound bites because it is the only one available.  Yes, there is liberal print, but Rush can't use the print news on his radio program.  Which makes MSNBC the only liberal network on tv.  He doesn't even consider Current to be liberal or to have enough actual political news shows to matter.

Question:  What is the opposite of liberal?
Answer:  Conservative.  If MSNBC is the only credible news source, then all the others are somewhat on the conservative bent.

You apparently dont realize that an outlet can be liberally biased without providing soundbites. NPR is liberal. Everyone that works there agrees its liberal. But they dont provide soundbites worth using. The NYT is a disgustingly biased newspaper...never a single soundbite, because its print.

Youre subject line is a lie. Period.

erieangel -> RE: Rush admits that media is conservative (11/10/2011 6:50:29 PM)

Another quote from the same article you obviously didn't read, willbeur.

"If it weren't for MSNBC there wouldn't be any liberal sound bites.  Now, that has to mean something.  That has to mean that they're rare, that they're not everywhere.  They may be everywhere in print, but, you know, left-wingers on the radio, genuine cuckoo's nest.  You wouldn't even want to go there."

I read it. You still dont understand or refuse to acknowledge that there is a world of difference between there being liberal outlets and there being outlets providing liberal soundbites.

And still no acknowlegement that your subject line is a lie, even though you havent tried to defend it, because you cant.

I'm not the one who claimed he did. I asked a question. Normally, that requires an answer. You made a claim. I asked for clarification. Can you clarify your statement?

I did clarify, regardless of whether your "Ok...what did he mean" implied that you agreed with the subject line.

willbeurdaddy -> RE: Rush admits that media is conservative (11/10/2011 7:11:00 PM)

And btw you asked this:

Question: What is the opposite of liberal?
Answer: Conservative

The issue wouldnt be the opposite of liberal, it would be what the complement of liberal is (ie "not liberal") , and the complement includes neutral so even on that basis your subject line is a lie.

subrob1967 -> RE: Rush admits that media is conservative (11/10/2011 7:25:27 PM)

Psst... Key words here are SOUND BITES!

Liberals are fucking boring, and monotonous, repeating the same talking points over and over. They don't have a individual thoughts worthy of a sound bite.

Yes, thats why I said the issue wouldnt be the opposite...it isnt really relevant because soundbites are a much narrower statement that she chose to misconstrue to bias overall.

Sound bites for conservatives seem to be less than 30 seconds long. Liberal sound bites tend to be less then 20 minutes. I know, your brain shuts off at the 30 second mark. We wouldnt want you thinking for yourself. We've tried numerous times to show you the error of your ways, but you still desire to be a conservative. For instances, I could explain how $100 Billion in spending cuts is a bad idea during a recession with high unemployment, but based on past observations, chances are well in my favor you wouldnt understand the extreme majority of the lesson.

Liberals sometimes shorten the sound bites to a mere 30 seconds so our fellow conservatives can keep up with the conversations. [:D]

Actually its because liberals are a joke, and any joke that takes more than 30 seconds has no chance of being funny.

Here's a question, what does Conservatism have to do with Republicans?

Republicans aren't conservative. Bush presided over the largest expansion of government power ever, creating the Department of Homeland Security and hiring all them brand new TSA employees we have to pay pensions for.
