You and me both, DarkSteven.  The amount of what you can potentially lose compared to what you gain just seems lopsided and all about aesthetics in the end.

People do what they do.  Some of it I don't understand why their brain thinks the way it does.  The inability to relate makes it especially difficult to see it from a transsexual's perspective.  I seriously doubt though that someone born with that mind-set/desire to be the opposite sex would find it impossible to cope and find a happy balance without running the risk of finding themselves ostracized by those around them.

The thing is, it's isn't just about aesthetics.  The hormones profoundly affect the brain, and everyone around me (family, friends, co-workers) were surprised at how my personality and demeanor changed....for the better.

There are some who manage to find a happy balance.  For others, the best (and sometimes only) way to achieve a good "balance" is to transition....and that means risking being ostracized, harassed etc.  I tried desperately to find any way I could to NOT transition, and cross-lived for 8 years before I couldn't take it anymore.

Before transition, I had suicidal thoughts on a regular basis--I was almost admitted to a facility as a result--and it was all linked back to my gender struggles.  I still had problems after transition (it's no magic bullet, after all) but I have not ever thought about suicide--not once--I love each day that I'm alive.  Compare that to waking up each day wishing I had died during the night.

I made huge sacrifices to have the life I have now-- and I can respect that you cannot understand how it feels--I wouldn't expect you too.  Just understand that it's not body modification.  I take a medication to allow me to "exist" that could very well shorten my life--I went into it with my eyes wide open.  I would rather live a shorter life filled with joy and opportunities than a long life of complete misery.

edited for typo

Three possibilities.
1. He didn't understand your question.
2. He doesn't actually know what the word means.
3. This his way of coming out of the closet.

Dude, if you get wood from tonguing a guy and you like being fucked up the ass by a chick wielding a strap-on, you're sure as shit not heterosexual  - no matter what you might like to tell yourself.

I've long since given up giving a rotating rat's anus whether I'm heterosexual, bisexual, perverted, or even a turnip, for that matter. I just enjoy getting wood. What's your point?

That when I very clearly speak of the attitudes of masculine heterosexual men and you try and use yourself as a counter-example, that perhaps you're really not a good example to choose.

Think of it this way.  When I say "us", you can confidently presume I'm not including you in that group.  Does that clarify matters?

The world is much bigger than your narrow view would let you believe.
Take your own advice. It will do you good.
You have no idea what my world-view is.  You're not smart enough to perceive it.

Your world view is so small it doesn't encompass much but the ignorance and lack of tolerance that is being discussed on these threads.

Hate to break it to you, but what gives you the impression you get to opine for "most men?" Are you friends with them? Would they even deign to talk to you (which is doubtful).

It makes you uncomfortable. You are sure you can pick them out because your wiring since the time of evolution points it out to you. Any one of the transgendered here could show you those you wouldn't be able to tell.

And it is really interesting that you only have the trouble with the MtF transgendered. Just sad that you think you are smart enough to subtly hide your bigotry. And bigotry stems from ignorance.

As for calling me weak? Ya wanna arm wrestle? Yep, you win hands down. You wanna attack me and hurl insults? You will need to up your game straight over TOS, because buddy, you just don't have what it takes to insult me. You lack knowledge of me and barely understand the thoughts I write.

But feel free to go for it.

I would never, in any walk of life, in any existence, in any multiverse, ever sleep or pursue a relationship with a transgender/transsexual/whatever you call it.

Your brain is telling you that you feel like a female?  My brain tells me I should be king of the world.  I'm not though, and despite the surgery done, you're a guy still.  Only now you're a guy who made himself look like a girl.

I think the bigger question is would you be a jerk to them. Ok, more of a jerk to them than you are to others? Or will you treat them like a person, use gender appropriate pronouns and carry on with it just being another person you know?

It isn't a matter of this thread trying to convince the guys to date TG, but to understand what a TG goes through and that it isn't as simple as a guy wanting to play dress up.

So could you develop a platonic friendship with one?

Sorta.  For some crossdressers, it could be.  Put on the other gender's clothes, present and hopefully pass, and then go back to "normal" life.

But if you're talking about a genuine transsexual such as you, one who transforms permanently into the other sex, I agree.  It's not.

Not really. For me, it's pretty simple, and likewise for the of men I've known who've been confronted with the issue. If a person looks female, is attractive, has a good figure and has a thing that works like a vagina, why would I care what this person once was? I'm having a hetero male reaction to what my dick tells me is a female.

Pfft. Men have hetero male reactions to blow up dolls and few get exercised about that. I'm sorry to be so crude, basic and so un-politically-correct - but, christ, life's too short for this kind of headache.

that's true.... I was speaking from my perspective as a transsexual...thanks for clarifying that....
I haven't met a lot of CD folks who cross-dressed publicly....most of the ones I knew did it in private...

It might help you to understand my position to know that I was brought up on images of this woman

http://ladeez-b.blogspot.com/2009/12/transexual-bond-girl.html

Tula - the model of the Smirnoff ads, then the 'Bond Girl'. It wasn't widely known that she was once a male. Like all my male friends, [I was at a boys' school] when I found out, I just thought, "Really? Does she have um, the right thing down there? She does? Fine by me then!"

And me and my pals duly carried on cracking them off with pics of her.

See? Simples!

Well given you seem to feel you're an expert on my world-view, pray tell us all what it is.  Given that it's so small, you should be able to lay it out in a few sentences.

What's that?  You can't.  Oh dear.  I guess you'd be full of shit then.

quote:

Hate to break it to you, but what gives you the impression you get to opine for "most men?" Are you friends with them? Would they even deign to talk to you (which is doubtful).
Are you retarded?  I ask because you appear to have significant problems understanding the purpose of the thread.  If you're really going to comment on my posts, I suggest a remedial course in English first.  I really don't want to waste time berating a functional idiot if this is the best they can apparently do.  It would be cruel.

quote:

It makes you uncomfortable. You are sure you can pick them out because your wiring since the time of evolution points it out to you. Any one of the transgendered here could show you those you wouldn't be able to tell.
Unlikely.  Very unlikely.  That's kind of a conceit which really makes the problem worse.  Unless the dude has a second x chromosome and has consequently altered development, it's very difficult to hide the fundamental male characteristics - both physiological and psychological.

quote:

And it is really interesting that you only have the trouble with the MtF transgendered. Just sad that you think you are smart enough to subtly hide your bigotry. And bigotry stems from ignorance.
Last I heard, this thread wasn't about you and what you thought, felt or cared about.  It was about the thread author's inquiries into the minds of people and how they view transsexuals.  That you find this offensive is entirely your own problem.  I suggest you run off and have a good cry about it, because it's not my job to help you deal with your issues.

Oh lord, why would I care.  You're an irrelevance screaming for my attention.  Yes, I know you're a woman - or claim to be one - and I can fully understand how desperate you might be to have me acknowledge you, but give it a rest.  I have no interest in you whatsoever, so go look for someone else to feed your ego.

Christ, this shit gets monotonous.  Intolerance from those who preach it.  How fucking ironic.

Most biological women don't look like her either.

I'm sure she has no trouble attracting men--but you and NS have made it crystal clear--you are manly men who want women with womanly-parts because god forbid you get a woody looking at the picture of a gorgeous woman only to find out she was once biologically male....because that might cause someone to question your heterosexuality.  I promise--your heterosexual card is safe.  No toaster for you.

...and she's not a dude, which really is the whole point of this thread.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: The Transgender Thread (11/13/2011 7:29:20 PM)

Well that Tula is some hot! She'd be more hot if she also had a unit, but that's just me grooving on she-males.

I will always be bemused at some folks. Do you men look at all women and rate them for fuckability? Because really? Most women are not doing that to you.

Yes.  Yes we do.  Are you telling me you've gotten to your advanced years without realising this fact.

We rate women for fuckability, the same way they rate us for being a good catch - except for the chicks who are already rating us for fuckability.

Honestly, the wilful ignorance of some of the women here is mind-boggling.

everyone rates everyone else for SOMETHING.
