I used to love watching Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K). Everything they had was awful but they had fun showing it with the smartassed comments from the 'audience'.

I'll be damned if I'm going to just sit here and read you trash one of the masterpieces of the late, great, Ed Wood.

But as for movies I think suck or are grossly overrated?

Fight Club.  It would've been better if this movie was more about the actual fighting than it was about some person being schizophrenic.

Star Wars.  Sorry, this whole series sucks.  I saw the original three as a kid, saw Episode 1 as a kid, and I learned two things from these films: Mark Hamill should only be remembered for voicing the Joker and there is no way that Darth Vader is one of the best swordsmen when he wears a cape that long.

Indiana Jones & Raiders of the Lost Ark.  Now, I actually really like this film.  It's a great action film.  Everybody loves the scene where that Nazi guy's face MELTS off or when that impressive ninja was showcasing his melee weapon skills only to be capped in the head, but it gets too much praise.  I will always say that Temple of Doom was the superior film and had a lot more fun to it.  Plus, hearts get ripped out in that movie and you get to see Harry commit genocide.

The Ring.  This was supposed to be a horror film.  This was anything but horrifying.  If your greatest fear is some 3-foot-tall girl coming out of the television then you must lead one horrible life.

Batman Begins.  Everybody always knocks on Forever & Batman/Robin but let's be honest for a moment and just say that Batman Begins was as underwhelming as underwhelming can be.  Anybody that has seen all the Batman films can recall from their memory multiple scenes or when hearing the name of, have their mind think to a few distinctive images.  When somebody mentions Batman Begins, my mind literally flashes an image of the words, "BATMAN BEGINS" because that's how forgettable this film is.  The tragic part is that it had my favourite villain in Batman, The Scarecrow, become a total pussy.  His whole fear effect gimmick was seriously disappointing and why is he suddenly riding a nightmare?  If I saw some guy riding a horse on fire, I'd think that was awesome not scary.  Oh, he gets his ass kicked by some wench too.  Lame.

That's all I have for now.

I admit Ed Woods films are funny but baaaad lol

Now there was a movie I watched yesterday called The Legend of 1900 and for the life of me I can't understand why it didn't make any money or was given low ratings by rotten tomatoes. I thought it was a wonderful movie. I loved every minute of it.

Interesting! I liked a lot of these: District 9, Dead Ringers, Malkovich.
Dislike anything that's anti-science and/or anti-female, or glorifies sadism or nihilism: I hated E.T., Gump, the Godfather movies, and anything by Lars van Trier, but 'Breaking the Waves' wins/loses.

i liked District 9 -- i kinda hoped there'd be a follow up, when Christopher comes back with some aliens and fixes Wikus. =p but... it's kinda nice that you're left hanging to make up the rest of the story yourself.

Meet The Spartans - Meet the producers and gut them.
The Bitch/Stud - Joan Collins' tatas are not enough to save a movie
All the Highlander sequels, Matrix sequels, Blade sequels. Alien is the only fantasy series that stayed watchable.
I did watch Ishtar because it is legendarily bad. It's not even good snarking fodder.
Far And Away - I wish I had been
Showgirls - Worst sex scene ever
Face Off - Fuck Off
Gigli - Pigli

MST3K is still alive and well....it's been reincarnated under the name Cinematic Titanic. The creator of MST3K, Joel Hodgson, is touring the country with the original cast and bringing the same format to the masses in local/regional venues. The show is in Green Bay tonight.

Oddly, Vanilla Sky is one of my favorite movies. LOL.

The worst movie I ever saw was Yentl. We saw it at a half price matinee at a dollar movie place. I felt like I had been robbed.

Vanilla Sky.

How any of them ever worked again after this film is a wonder to me.

Now Dragonfly was a good tear jerker.  Every time I see it, I have to have tissues with me.

All of the Saw movies.

Remakes of the classical horror movies.  I did like both versions of The Dunwich Horror but then I am a Lovecraft fiend.

Not really.  The Blair Witch Project is actually a very solid horror film.  The problem is that it is a cerebral sort of horror that people either 'get' or they don't.  I love horror films such as BWP and have totally taken a liking to Paranormal Activity because of how simplistic but how the atmosphere sucks you in and makes every 'tame' movement (such as a tree branch randomly falling, or the door slowly closing by itself) feel like something bad is about to happen, but you don't know when.  I despise horror films such as Saw or Hostel because they strike me as more "repulsive" and hope to give you a visceral fear (which in most people's cases is trying to watch without wanting to vomit).  To me, that's just poor.  There's really no dread or suspense, and this isn't even entirely limited to supernatural films like PA and BWP.  Look at the original Halloween and how there was no blood in it, but the music, camera-work, lighting, and emphasis on not "How will he kill" but "When will he kill" remained effective and in some ways has stood the test of time.

Too bad after the first Halloween it became a slasher franchise and lost a lot of mystique and overall interest in the process.  Don't get me started on how bad Rob Zombie fucked that film up in his remake.  If it were up to Zombie, every movie would have his ditzy blonde wife working a pole or having a role out of her league, and there'd be evil rednecks that talk about necophilia or something twisted.  The man should keep to making shitty music.
