UHF
The Elephant Man
Sleepers
Mask
Adventures in Babysitting
American History X
Thelma and Luise
Homer and Eddie
Hero (1992)

I would have posted more... but others had already posted them so I figured ya'll might like to see a fresh list.
And GT is right, you can't go wrong with any film with Kevin Spacey in it.

FR:
does anyone else find it interesting that "The Warriors".... truly a B-movie at best....a movie that few people have even heard of, and most who saw it couldn't sit through it.... has made so many people's top ten lists here?
just an observation.  I personally like the movie....bad writing....bad acting....bad plot....but I still love the movie...

I think people actually appreciate bad movies much more than they let on:)
hubby and I have a rating system of our own and we tend to watch bad movies a LOT:)

Hey Greedy

City of Angels was a hollywood remake (a terrible one, in my opinion) of Wings of Desire, a brilliant movie with a SUBTLE love story and no hollywood cliche ending.  If you like City of Angels, you'll love Wings of Desire. It's a foreign film in French, German and a very small amount of English, so you may need to look under that sub-header.

Sadly, most of the Hollywood movies recently are remakes, granted they are from foreign originals so I can understand...but, seriously, do we need a new Conan?

So true.  How can you top the original, which gave Ah-nolt a whopping 2 lines in the whole movie.....  at least it gave most of the speaking parts to James Earl Jones.   La Femme Nikita is another example--the original was fantastic.  The Hollywood remake was dreadful.
