Oh no, Lucy. Sorry if I confuzzled you. President Obama most certainly used the word "lazy" in describing American business. Moon claims the Bush II used the word to describe American workers, and I have invited him to verify such. It is, after all, the entire core of his argument (if you can call his rantings an arguement), rather than one example in a list.

The Repubs are going to get mileage out of this, all the way to election day.

Cite President Bush II using the word in that way, Moon. Go right ahead. You've got nothing but a mouth full of hate, and the bitterness of the dashed dreams of what your life might have been. Go make your filthy noise somewhere else.

"Obama Calls U.S. 'A Little Bit Lazy' About Foreign Investment"

So the president was talking about investment strategies over the years and you feel personally attacted?lol

Will we get a rebuttal to the president`s comments, using data/facts or just more gutless demagoguing from you?

"The president spoke this weekend at the annual Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meeting in Hawaii. Obama said his administration has set up an organization focused on making it easier for foreign investors to build in the U.S., but there is still much more to do."

Maybe it`s your inferiority complex that leads you to think the president`s referring to you, yes?

Actually, dick has provided us with excellent examples of the differences and juxtapositions of the conservative and liberal mindsets and both parties, here.

We should thank him.

On the one hand,we have President Obama, recognizing there`s a problem and doing something about it, in good faith,.............like an adult.

On the other,we have cons(like dick) to clueless to even see problems, to cowardly to address them and to childish to take them seriously.

We have President Obama providing leadership and offering improvements and foresight.....doing something positive .

And we have the republicans, providing nothing but gloom. And laughs too.dick is always good for those.

Thanks dick.

The right side??? Are you nuts? It's an east coast king, and I sleep on the left. It's a hike, over to the other side. Not to mention that I'd be going over the wife to do it, and she gets to sleep in tomorrow.

Combined with the "soft" comment a few months ago, adding "lazy" as word directly out of the President's mouth is red meat for the speechwriters. Look for it during the convention speeches. Played right, the base is going to eat it up.

Here you go: one of Bush's many "them illegals is only doing jobs us Americans won't do" speeches from back when he was trying to get his guest worker programme up and running.
Bush makes excuses for immigrant peons.

"They're doing jobs Americans will not do." /= Americans are lazy.

But also this:

quote:

"But we’ve been a little bit lazy, I think, over the last couple of decades," he said at CEO summit at the APEC meeting in Hawai'i. "We’ve kind of taken for granted — well, people will want to come here and we aren’t out there hungry, selling America and trying to attract new business into America."

/= Americans are lazy.

In this context it does, sadly. Bush has actually gone on record as saying that Illegals are doing menial jobs Americans are too lazy to do a couple of times. Sadly, I can't remember the precise phrasing of something he said six or seven years back or the event at which he said it, and you should see some of the crap that putting "Mexicans are doing jobs Americans are too lazy or don't want to do" into google pulls up...

Well, that's the thing - I can't find a quote of Bush using the word lazy in that context.

Me neither, and Moon had plenty of time to do his Googling, so I guess we can call it an established fact that Moon was simply making shit up, and that his lie was the foundation of his whole argument.

Yes. It's the particular word. There were lots of other words our brilliant orator in chief could have used, but he chose this one. Bush didn't.
