EStrict -> Poly vs. married and looking (10/21/2004 9:26:41 AM)

I keep my settings generic on the opening page, so I tend to see a lot of different profiles even though I don't actively *look*. One I saw today confuses me. She said she is married and looking, but not into poly.

I don't know, but it seems to me that if you have a dominant AND a husband, doesn't that make her poly? Or is it just she expects all the men to be monogamous to her but she doesn't have to be the same? Does this mean the dominant can be married to a woman who isn't submissive to him, and she only wants the d's relationship to not be poly? Any thoughts?

Maybe, he's unaware of her search here on collarme. Cheating comes to mind first. Some people define poly as having live ins. Perhaps, she only wants play partners. Nothing really as serious as a live in.

This is a huge subject. It would be nice if someone didn't say "poly" at all and spelled out what they want, i.e. "I want a play partner only". JMO.

I agree with SentForU - the first thing that popped into my mind is 'she is looking to get some action on the side, without hubby knowing about it' - just the conclusion I jumped to based on the info you provided

I must agree, It sounds to me like she is "alledegly" happily married yet looking to cheat on the side. As long as the husband is never the wiser all the better in her mind.

It is only poly when all parties know about it. Also, to my knowledge when all parties participate.

This does not equate to 'poly' either. It sounds more like she is non-monogamous.

Actually, no it does not maker her poly at all...it just means she is looking outside her relationship.

Poly is many things...i am finding out that basically it can be whatever anyone wants it to be. Seems like all the reading and re-searching i do means nothing. It means whatever that individual 'Wants' it to mean. Just like anything else...labels. Now i do have my own opinion of being Poly, that is mine. I am not Poly, never have been, most likely never will be. I believe in another thread i stated that i am bi....like women...do not mind playing with them, after done playing... i want no part of them...bye...done...be gone with you...was nice, maybe we can do it again sometime....maybe not. *shrugz* perhaps at some time in my life this will change....just my thought process now.
Does this make me Poly? Ohhh hell no.

It sounds to me that the person in the profile is just seeking outside of her relationship for another. Right or Wrong...I do not know the specifics of this, does her husband know? who knows....not my place to judge...nor do i care actually....not 'my' relationship.

~smilezz~

Polyamoury is a big long word to write out every time. And darn hard to spell.

::shrugs:: those who are aware of the term are well aware of what I am asking.. those who don't probably won't give answers that interest me anyway.

I think you mean poly armory here

polyamo(u)ry is what is being discussed here

Suleiman -> RE: Poly vs. married and looking (10/26/2004 5:52:12 PM)

There are a lot of meanings to "poly". She could be looking to swing, which is often considered separate from poly as a lifestyle, or she might think that "poly" refers only to a polygamous of multifidelitous relationship where all involved are essentially part of one large household. It might be that she is unaware of the "open relationship" aspect of the poly lifestyle and therefore does not classify herself as poly.

Any way, those are the first assumptions to come to mind for me. I could be wrong - I frequently am, but conclusions is such a lovely island I just keep coming back to visit.
