Herman Cain: Yes, because that's his community. That's his community. I can't tell you his name, but he is a very prominent voice in the Muslim community, and he said that.


I find it unsettling that a man running for the highest office in the land could say something like this and still be held as a credible contender.

Your buddy Wilbur would call that hearsay and doesnt count. ironic indeed for Cain to use an anyonymous source yet slam Politico for doing the same thing. Anybody, including you can make the same claim of "someone told me". The truth of the fact is that if most Muslims were extremist you would have had more "home grown" incidents than you have had.

So here you have one contender for the highest office in land, making generalisations on hearsay, yet you think its okay !

Why shouldn't that be possible.

You can believe that women should not be allowed out without a male chaperon, should wear a burkha, and only have sex with her husband after marriage without blowing up cars or arming teenagers.

Lots of people have beliefs that they do not act on.

Possibly like other peaceful patriotic Americans who are also extremists, like a talk-radio host who never actually shoots a a registered Democratic - but just talks about doing it.

Views are views - actions are actions. Americans have the right to verbally express extremist views, as long as they do not act on them. All other Americans have the right to watch them carefully, on the chance that they might act on those views, so that they can be stopped. Other Americans also have the right, if not an obligation, not to elect them to public office or place them in position of public trust (Two examples - policemen who express views of white supremacy should be dismissd from the police force - and no one should vote for some of the announced GOP presidential candidates)

Rob has a point. There are a lot of extremists who don't go around blowing up clinics and fed buildings or shooting doctors in church.

In my 60 years of life experience, whenever someone says something like Cain said without revealing the name of their anonymous source - they're actually saying what they really believe, but don't have the courage to say "This is what I believe" - so they invent an anonymous source to give them cover.

Like when a little child does something wrong and gets caught - and then blames it on their imaginary friend.

At least Cain didn't seal his grades while in college persuing a degree in mathematics and computer science.
He was pretty "transparent" in that wasn't he.
