Tea Party Leader Calls For Cain To Drop Out Following Libya Flub

quote:

Tea Party Nation head Judson Phillips says that Herman Cain should leave the GOP presidential race after his excruciating stumble in an interview with the editorial board of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Phillips, who has endorsed Newt Gingrich for president, was referring to Cain’s inability to respond to a question about the crisis in Libya.

Phillips writes in an alert to members of Tea Party Nation yesterday:
quote:

I was wrong about Herman Cain.

I said originally that Cain could stay on message better than almost any other candidate. His 9-9-9 plan was all he would talk about and I attributed that to good messaging on his part.

I was wrong.

It is not messaging. Cain cannot talk about anything else. Tonight there is a video from the Journal Sentinel online that show an interview with Herman Cain. Forget the sexual harassment allegations. Forget Mark Block’s gross incompetence. Herman Cain needs to leave the race because he is not qualified to be President. The video is painful to watch. It is obvious Cain is in over his head and simply clueless.

And this man wants to be the Commander in Chief making decisions?
Candidates have something called briefing books. These are prepared by staffers and contain, among other things, topics candidates are expected to have at least a passing knowledge of. Cain may not be expected to know the name of the President of Montenegro or the Prime Minister of Moldavia, but Libya is a question that will obviously come up

Watching Herman Cain stumble around looking for an answer is beyond painful. He looks to the ceiling, desperately seeking an answer. He responds in vague talking points...

To the Cain supporters, I simply say watch the video and ask yourself, “Is this the man you want answering the red phone in the White House at 3 AM?”

Looking at the present field of GOP Presidential candidates and asking that question: “Is this the man or woman you want answering the red phone in the White House at 3 AM?” - the only one that doesn't scare me is Huntsman.

Why did it take so long for Phillips to recognize that Cain's a "one-note wonder"?

tazzygirl -> RE: Tea Party Leader Calls For Cain To Drop Out Of Presidential Race (11/15/2011 5:04:12 PM)

Maybe they were hoping the ginkoba would begin to work?

Is the leader of the tea party invincible and unable to make a mistake? If so, why doesn't he tell us how to bring the country back around to when we were financially strong? Is he running for president? Personally, I do not know of any candidate, and that includes Obama, that I would want answerring the red phone at 3AM. The idea is if the phone rings, whomever answers it can keep us from engaging in a war.

No exit song with 9 Mill in his coat pocket... But he's definitely got himself a new campaign song

3 months ago, I had a LOT of hope for Cain.

That was before 9-9-9 and the scandals which even if he is totally innocent it will hurt him.

It was also before his brainfarts.

It's almost like the RNC is trying to lose (yeah I know I have said that before).

I don't think cain was ever seriously running for President. He spends almost all his time on his book tour, has made relatively few visits to early primary and caucus states and has little professional staff both at his headquarters or at the state level.

Ive been saying they didnt wanna win since last election William :) I also liked cain. But now.. it shows that first impressions aren t always to be relied upon. And while his issues are powerful in themselves, his "way of handling" himself is his biggest downfall for me.
He isnt leader material by any stretch of the imagination.
Hes making it worse for himself with all the backpeddalling and not telling the truth(like clinton)
But then Im big on people admitting to their fuckups

Give Willbe a break... he's just doing what any good PeePants in 2012 stumper would do. They're prepping poor Herman and his magical $9 Million 'donation' for his trip under the rear wheels of the bus.
What I like best is the framing of that Curtis guy for Romney's fucking CAVALCADE OF VICTIMS that presented themselves before Cain's press entourage.
It was absolutely Nixonesque... Far more elegant than that asswipe Rove's attach up here in Mass on behalf of DO NOTHING BROWN.

Lucylastic -> RE: Tea Party Leader Calls For Cain To Drop Out Of Presidential Race (11/16/2011 1:38:19 PM)

He hasnt shown himself worthy of a break, in fact he just seems to scrape out more and more bs to cover himself with.
sorry Im an unforgiving bitch when it comes to people like him:)

And yet he leads in Iowa. Imagine how he'll fucking destroy Obama if he "accidentally" gets the nomination and gets serious.

Idiot.

He leads among Republicans in Iowa. What anamazing accomplishment. I'm sure you remember the stunning success of the winner of the last contested Republican caucus. That was Mike Huckabee for the forgetful.
