Hi,
My Master and I are trying to find out how to locate parties in the Richmond, Va area without having to join a group. Master does not want to join a group because I do not live in the area at this time. Could someone please help? or I can give his information so he can be contacted directly. Which to be honest I am more comfortable with as I feel I am out of my place by asking such questions.

I doubt you'll be able to get invites to parties (I'm assuming you mean private parties, right?) without making friends first.

I'd suggest getting a profile set up on fetlife and do a search on Richmond to see what's going on there.

Seconding checking out Fetlife -- you can do region-specific searches there and find what's going on in your area. But like myotherself said, most groups restrict their parties to membership, so... it might be hard to get into parties without being members or really good friends of the people throwing them. Even if they don't require membership, a lot of them require some kind of screening or "validation" of who you are.

I am going to be the third one to tell you the same thing. Parties are often in someone's private home. People do not invite strangers to their homes. They like to get to know your before doing so. Having a slave who is a member of a kink site is not a personal reference for you or your Master.

I am not sure why your Master will not attend a munch because you do not live in the area. One does not have to be a couple to meet people over a lunch or dinner. You don't actually join a group in most cases. There is no real membership. You just show up and get to know other kinky folk. If he got to know people then when you are in town you might just have a party to attend.

I'm a little lost why being single precludes joining groups but not attending parties.

To be blunt, I'd be concerned about someone who wanted to attend play parties while remaining anonymous. Many people who participate stand to lose a lot if they were outed, and allowing strangers to saunter in just isn't a good idea.

The public dungeon in DC, the Crucible is currently in the process of being relocated. The new location is not yet open.

It really isn't a bad trip from Richmond to DC depending on the time of day. Can be done in a little over an hour, but usually takes longer when there is traffic. Used to live in Richmond and played at the Crucible about once a month or so.

It's like 3 hours ;) It's actually a terrible drive, done it before, and no point when there is a public scene in Richmond.

Part of the mores of the BDSM community, is well being a part of the community. If you want to party, you've got to be willing to introduce yourself to people before everyone is in various states of undress and screaming. If that's not your game put on an industrial playlist, and get a strobe light and have your own party in the living room.

well.. guess it depends on where you're going.. but you can make most parts of DC from most parts of Richmond in 1.5hours without traffic...

in any case, as others have said, the Crucible's not open yet...

There's a bunch of groups in Williamsburg, VA...and a very nice little conference called Colonial Kink in March (I think). Many of the groups that represented there were from Williamsburg, Newport News, VA Beach, Richmond, and NoVA. Lots of things near you, and I heard the Crucible will be opening in the not-so-distant future.

WHat does your master think of the idea of hosting a party at his place. By the time you return, he could have everything set up. He just would not know whom is in his home and are they really there for the party or to case the home or as a member of law enforcement. But hey what differrence does that make. It gives him the annonimity of not joining a group until everyone shows up.
