This past week my long-loved blackberry has finally decided to fail. Well, the speaker failed. Actually it works, just anyone I talk to on it sounds like the teacher from Charlie Brown. Which is slightly humorous at times, but very annoying.

Thanks to good planning on my part, I've got the replacement warranty. So I'm shipping it in and they are giving me store credit to replace it with whatever I want, I don't have to swap for the same exact model. (Rather spiffy actually, so far very happy with radio shack).

I use Boost (not going to switch) so my phone options are limited. But I think I've narrowed my choices down to two options.

#1: replace my blackberry curve 8530. Its familiar, I like it. No major complaints (crappy, no flash camera is it)

#2: switch to the samsung transform ultra. Android, touchscreen with full slide out keyboard.

I've never had an android so can't discuss faults and merits, but from what I've seen it looks like a pretty good full feature phone.

I used to have a curve (a pink one!) And it was the big love. Then my mom decided we must have touch screen phones! So we have the motorola android 1, slide out keyboard. LOVE. Like, what's a blackberry? Learning gthe touch screen was a bit of a learning curve, but full web? SO MUCH BETTER!!

Some stuff I miss--no speed dials! On MY model, the camera takes great pics, but is hard to use--newer models, prolly better. The contacts thing, well, I search a lot. Google want to put every damn thing in the contacts list all I want are phone numbers. They are all in there...

Go android!

The Blackberry is a good phone, no doubt. Secure, good battery life, good support and warranty from the makers of Blackberry.

But, I am an Android fan. I used to have an Epic when I was with Sprint. The Transform is like the Epics little brother. Its a really nice phone. You can chose to use either the touch screen keyboard or the slide out keyboard. There are tons of applications you can run on it. If the choice were Mine, I would go with the Transform.

I've never had a Blackberry, but I do have an Android phone, and I really like it. I don't like that it zaps the battery in a day. =p Sometimes I'll check my email, or Facebook, or collarme, and using the web seems to eat the battery like nothing else. My old phone had a really crappy half-assed browser, so it's nice to see websites the way they're meant to look. =p But my old phone could run for a week on a charge -- this one -- well it'll make it to two days, if I just make calls and text. The touch screen is cool, and all the apps are ridiculously nice. (I have yet to play Angry Birds, but I adore the GPS. =p)My phone has a physical keyboard, which I love, because the virtual vibratey ones bug me. I wish it had a physical number pad, but I've gotten used to that.

Anyway... just another vote (albeit one without Blackberry experience) for Droid.

Just thought I'd mention that if people really like the look of the Blackberry, but want something that's better, try the Nokia E5. It may not be android, but it still has plenty of apps for it. I adore mine, and as my friend has just had a Blackberry, mine in comparison is proving to be a much better choice. Not everyone wants touch screen, and I'd definitely recommend this one if you like the qwerty key pad.

My opinion is to go to the service provider's website and read the reviews on the phones you are interested in.

Pros and Cons.

I don't know who your provider is but I know that mine, Verizon, has customer reviews on each phone. Every time I've replaced a phone, I've used those reviews to determine what I want. I have never been disappointed.

Here are 2 sites where you can read users opinions
these are not tied to any service provider.

Phone Scoop  Note: Since you said you are staying
with Boost I linked you right to their phones.

Of course for electronics always check the reviews on Newegg.com

Blackberry is dead.  The company will be bankrupt inside 3 years.

I love mine because I don't want the distraction of the other bells and whistles, but I can't argue with the conclusion.

after using Iphone "2g" for almost 4 years now, it was dead few weeks ago,
& the Iphone 4GS is not somthing you can buy, so I did ask one of my friends, he told me to buy Samsung, & I did
Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000, Its freeking Rocks, on the other hand I had to go 3rd party to get the App`s coz the "market" dose not work where I live, but I got what I wanted from it one way or the other,
after few days having that great device............ I can not complain.... but the days of the Iphone is almost over, & its new era og the ANDROID,

I really recommend that you get the Great Samsung Galaxy Note,

I have a phone..

I make phone calls on it.

I can receive phone calls on it.

It has a contact list.

I cannot text on it.

I cannot surf the web on it.

I use to have a Treo that did all those things and many more, and I miss it. But the newer phones just confuse me. I'll keep my little plain jane just make a phone call phone.
