How does that work? Is it like an animal shelter for stray slaves?

Sorry,I did not read ALL replies yet. Girls If you are new read ALL of sasshay's profile and journals........if you do not...assume you are here just for play and to be ripped of!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To not INVEST time in learning about this lifestyle BEFORE BELIEVING THE GRAND PUBA  WHO TAKES YOU IS AN ACT OF ONE WHO IS HOPING TO GET LUCKY...........
For heaven's sake girls and boys please read sashay's profile so dogobedience can stop selling her here on the forums repeatedly.  Apparently she is selling common sense on her profile and if you don't/can't think of how to proceed when attempting a relationship in your hearts/minds, than better read and follow step by step.     M

Oh goodie another knows it all on the first day person. No idea who sasshy is but can't wait for her to teach me what 10 years of real life experience hasn't.

This is is exactly the appropriate place to post what NOT to do. If you see a "master" that acts like they've learned it all and their sub is the only one in the world that could possibly have any insight for you (curously they're looking for a second) RUN RUN HARD & FAST the other way.

Thank God.  I'm a sub who knows exactly what to do, not a Master.  Whew!

At least this way I don't have to report you for flaming me.  However, I will log on as my MasterKnowitall profile and report you there.

Yours,

benji

About 67....  But I never did more than once after you told me and before you told me again.

Actually, now that you mention it, stop nagging me about that!

Good points made.

I know myself well, and have known too many people who stumble into this unable to think because they are so stunned and overwhelmed...so without any roleplaying or making use of them, I explain about safety and get them to see all the choices they have, and the responsibility they have to take for themselves.  I think I can type "Slow down.  Learn more about the lifestyle before you put your very life into someone's hands.  Get to know them as a person first" in my sleep.  I send them to these boards and to educational links, and tell them to understand more of what they want and need before looking to get collared.

I was very lucky to have another female sub mentoring me...someone who thinks it's her job to help me to grow in whatever direction I decide is right for me, and who growls and goes Domme on me if I try to fudge on safe calls.

There are debts of gratitude I owe certain people who are in the lifestyle, I'm just paying it forward.

The idea is Y/you can can be clueless and then hear 100 different views but chances are if Y/your asking people of a knowledgeable nature Y/you will still have at least most of the information correct if O/one is weighing what E/everyone is saying...getting a concensus

Not exactly. She has tons of copyrighted material on her journal (some credited, some not.. doesn't seem to have a system for what she steals and what she credits.. ) that are someone else's common sense (and some bullshit that even the clueless will recognize as such). If there were an interest catagory for cut and paste she'd qualify as 'expert'.

I think one big problem with male subs is that they get so excited discovering something new and keep building this mental imagination of what submission is.  They they try to force the subject into the one particular topic that THEY think is the "Be All, End All" aspect of BDSM.  I think more than real life experience, the mental attitude needs to taper off where they are open to learn more than their self-serving attitude is looking for before they can no longer be a "newbie".
I like Diamonds attitude that you are a newbie as long as your are still learning.

I don't think that you HAVE to qualify everything that you say... What I do think is this:

Don't make comments that sound as if they are universal truths or facts when in fact they are simply opinion or personal observation....

I'm the last one to think that newbies are less intelligent, or young, or unable to think for themselves... but I do note that the "presence" of BDSM in their mind and hearts may have been causing years of conflict for some, and when they finally find the outlet (or courage) to explore it, they don't need a lot of confusing "facts" that make them feel as if they don't fit - especially since they've probably felt for years that they don't fit in mainstream society... I don't want to "coddle them" I want to EDUCATE them by giving them a broad array of information so they can see what resonates with them.

Additionally there are younger and younger people who ARE naive who would benefit from us taking care in how we post our opinions...

Does that clear things up?

They should have the common sense to form their own conclusions and not take any one person's word as gospel. This is a lesson they should have learned a long time ago in life. They should have the common sense to realize that if 30 different people have 30 different views, there might not be a truism. If they hear 100 different definitions of the meaning of a collar, they might get a clue that it varies from person to person.

So very true.  Assuming that we are all adults here, at least I hope so, most if not all of us have the mental capacity to make informed decisions.  And anyone who has ever researched a particular subject does not stop at once source, but goes on to read as many viewpoints as possible.  The truth...or at least a consensus of opnion...lies somewhere in between those often very diverse definitions.

There's so much to be said here- how many subs want and actually ENJOY playing the part of the lost/needy childlike confused person., how many doms ENJOY playing the part of the white knight rescuer to the lost/needy childlike confused person (all the while the sub clamoring they are a STRONG NOT DOORMAT and the dom going on about how they really want a strong intelligent person.)

They either all get disillusioned and "leave the life forever" or they get disillusioned and grow up to reality and become really comfortable in who they are.

Course it can be funny watching the ones who "leave the life forever" a few times.
