Iv always been curious about the whole master/sub scene and have decided to try and get involved, I quite literally have no idea where to start. Anyone got any tips?

Hi there! I'd recommend you seek out a group local to you. Try Googling "BDSM Preston" and see what comes back.

Unfortunately, the forum is populated mostly by us Yanks, so you're going to have to do most of your own looking. But once you find a local group, you'll be in. Simply give a call and show up and watch and learn.

Eventually, you'll get to scene some. Try both Topping and bottoming to see which you prefer (and note that you might be one of those who like both).

Thanks for the reply DarkSteven.

I will have a look around see if I can find anything locally, might be a dumb question because I think I know the answer but could you clarify? Topping and bottoming, is that the same as the gay slang as in to give or receive?

Not exactly. In a scene, a Top does things to a bottom. It could be spanking, tying up, flogging, whipping. Those roles are defined only within that scene, and someone who Tops in one scene could bottom in another one. I've also seen one in which a bottom was flogged by a couple, and the woman in the couple also was flogged in the same scene by the man, so she fit both roles in that scene.

Thanks for the clarification, that makes sense. Have you come across a post on here that kind of acts like a dictionary of BDSM terms? I dont want to make any faux pas in the future. If not I will just google it.

I'd recommend the Urban Dictionary, but they have a lot of non-BDSM terms clogging the works.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, I have found a glossary of terms on a bondage shop website so I am just getting my head round the terms now.

I am really not sure what I am in to at the moment, I have had some experience with hair pulling, scratching and biting, blindfolding and restraints and light domination of a partner, however there are some sub things that look quite good as well I like the idea of body worship and being restrained. But I am coming in to this with an open mind so I will try pretty much anything once, otherwise I'm not going to know if I will like it or not.

Looked locally and there used to be a club but it looks like it closed a couple of years ago, but I will keep looking and hope I can find something :)
