Evidently, Perry doesn't know that the Founders gave civilians control of the military for a reason.

Evidently, Perry doesn't know that on the long-chance that he is elected President, he would be the civilian Commander in Chief.

Evidently, Perry know much about history or that without civilian control of the military the Cuban missile crisis would have ended much differently because at the time, the military wanted to go into the Cuba while the civilian Commander in Chief saw a much better way out of the situation.

Military control of the government?  Happens all the time in Latin America.  Sometimes several times in one year.  Also worked out great for Libya.

Well to be honest, that isn't what he said.

HUH?????????

That's exactly what he said.

PERRY: There is a time and a place for us to intervene, and intervene militarily. But when we intervene militarily, we best make the decision on how we are going to win and how we are going to win convincingly and quickly, send those young men and women with the equipment to win. Don’t let some congressman sitting in an air-conditioned office in Washington DC deciding what the rules of engagement are. … And for us to micromanage them, in a civilian way, without their commanders truly in charge, is absolutely irresponsible and as commander-in-chief of this country I will not let it happen.

I am starting to despise some Democrats in this forum because of their tendency, in the debates around Republican candidates, to manipulate the sentences, build up cheap propaganda and spread lies.

I honestly thought that that was the area of Fox News and such. I did not expect this to happen three times in the last two weeks, here.

Perry did not said or indicate that he wanted to "end civilian control", but exaggerated micro-management from Congresspeople on military operations. And what he would do this as president, that is, civilian Commander - in - Chief. That's what he actually said, and what is quoted in the, already biased, report of AlterNet.

So, even if I disagree with Perry about that such thing happened, and being actually an European leftist (which puts me, for most Americans, side by side with Stalin I guess)... 1 for Perry, 0 for populist Democrat propaganda.

When one is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.
