This committee was suppose to find ways to cut the budget, they failed. What gets me is that the records of this committee are now sealed and will not be open for 20 years, what are they hidding? Also it seems that from the beginning member received money from Superpacs of special interest groups and companies that do business with the government. Theses superpac were formed after the Supreme Court ruled corperations could donate unlimited amounts of money. The automatic cuts will begin in 2013 and Obama has already stated no cuts in defense spending.

The whole idea of the super committee was doomed to failure from the beginning.

I actually had hope that it would work, and if Obama's prospects and record were any better it might have. The Dems were backed into a position where they had to block any meaningful proposal so they can play the blame game, the only possible chance he has of re-election.

And it is looking like a landslide at this point.

Says you. I think the real problem was that the Repubs were backed into a position where they had to block any meaningful proposal so they can play the blame game, the only possible chance any of their sorry candidates have to get elected.

I second this notion! The Republicans needed time to stall and play more games with America. They weren't going to offer anything useful to Americans and they knew they had nothing to offer. Rather than deal with the problem head-on and correctly, Republicans used every dodge, evade, and side-step they could think on using. They couldnt raise taxes, which was their main problem back in July of this year. Some say its because of Grover Norquiest and his band of hoodlums. Others state the Republicans are now mere 'yes-men' of Wall Street Financial companies. Still another group believes Republicans are simply mindless idiots that should never have been elected.

Regardless of the reason, the next election will hopefully see many of them removed. If Democrats retook the House, keeping the Senate and White House (they have the White House for four more years), I think we'll see Democrats much LESS open to the idea of 'bi-partisanship' and more 'get shit done now' in the future!

The really sad part is that Republicans, much less those that voted them into office, can't take responsibility for their actions and words. They are the ones that created deficit at the alarming rate of growth by instituting the Bush Tax Cuts. They are the ones that allowed the debt to grow year after year without control. They are the ones responsible for removing many key regulations that allowed financial systems to melt down and force the nation into a recession. How about those Tea Party guys that got into office? They bitched and moan this time last year (and months before that) that those in office did nothing useful for America. Seems they are doing the EXACT SAME THING but in addition saying 'no' to anything and everything without even studying an issue for a nanosecond.
