MANCHESTER, NH (CBS) – A group of protesters claiming to be part of the Occupy movement disrupted President Obama’s speech at Manchester Central High School in New Hampshire on Tuesday. President Obama had taken the stage when he was interrupted by the group. According to the White House press pool, the protest leader yelled, “Mr. President, 4,000 people have been arrested in protests…” before students chanting “Obama” drowned out the protester’s voice. The President did acknowledge the protesters and even responded. “I’m going to be talking about a whole range of things today,” he told the protesters. “I appreciate you guys making your point. Now, let me go ahead and make mine. I’ll listen to you. You listen to me.” It’s unclear whether the president ever did hear the protesters’ entire message. The group did later hand out a slip of paper to the media that detailed their full statement. “Mr. President, over 4000 peaceful protesters have been arrested, while bankers continue to destroy the American economy. You must stop the assault on our 1st amendment rights. Your silence sends a message that police brutality is acceptable. Banks got bailed out. We got sold out,” it read. http://boston.cbslocal.com/2011/11/22/occupy-protesters-inturrupt-presidents-speech-in-manchester-nh/
