In some cultures it might be alright to walk around with a machine gun, so should we also put up with that as it is their culture?

There is a rational basis for fearing someone with a machine gun: it gives them a kill zone of about 400 meters and likely a capacity of about 30 attempts in between reloads. The niqâb does not give any rational basis for fear, and when there is an irrational fear that impacts large groups of people, it is best to address the fear itself, as fear is not a good basis for any decisions unless it is rational in nature.

Let me ask you, doesn't it bother you if somebody drives a car and is veiled in a way that impairs their sight dramatically?

Is this not covered by laws on driving?

There's nothing wrong with requiring whoever drives a car to only do so when their vision is adequate, just like a lot of places only allow epileptics to drive when their seizures have been under control for an extended period of time. That is traffic safety law, and not a law which targets a specific group or the habits of a specific group. If you don't have such a law, I suggest campaigning for one.

You wouldn't want someone driving with a bad eye infection either, after all.

Somebody taking advantage of our universities and schools, but you really don't know who is taking the tests as they are swathed in fabrics that make them impossible to identify.

Unless a suspicion is raised and an investigation shows that there is guilt, innocence is the presumption under most legal systems in the west, because that assumption is a foundation of the cultures in most countries in the west. You're voicing suspicion of a group on account of what they could possibly do, rather than addressing specifically what happens and the means to do something about what happens.

I have a penis. It enables me to do a lot of bad shit. And some people do treat me as suspect for having one. Yet it is not having a penis that should decide what is assumed about my actions. Until someone takes me to court with a rape charge, I should not be treated as a potential rape crime waiting to happen. That's essentially the same thing.

The general climate in Europe is not one where you have to protect your skin at all times

Malignant melanoma is a huge cause of death here, precisely because of that assumption, and it's higher in Europe than it needs to be, by far.  We should wear more protective clothing, and there is a health risk to people being told to wear less clothes. Even in the UK.

quote:

Sorry, when it comes to that issue, it's Vive La France, they got it right, nobody discriminated, same rules for everybody.

Indiscriminate oppression is not better than discrimination, it's just more widespread.

Health,

Can't comment on that but over here in the UK some of the biggest advocates of multiculturism are calling it a failed experiment. Which is something a hell of a lot of us predicted anyway. Personally I go with my country right or wrong. Don't like it there's the exit door.

If anyone wants to call me racist I will refute the argument but I will readily admit to being culturalist.
I fail to see the benefit to society in general in having schools teaching 17 languages.

Just as there are others who fail to see the benefit to society of Britain having foisted their culture onto 17 other countries, rhetorically speaking. The counterpart to teaching teaching too many languages is stomping out too many languages, as the Romans and Brits did. If you're too stupid to learn what you have taken over, then so be it; having the need to kill it for everyone else is another matter.

About as anti-multiculturalism as it gets. Not that I am a fan of either concept, and there are those that fail to see the inherent antagonism between multi-culturalism and that annoying 'melting pot' thing. Not an outright dichotomy, but close to it.
