Firm attacking a poster and not the post?
well well well, and not once , but twice.

*shrugs*

If I were "attacking" her, we'd already have a thread locked, and one or both of us on moderation. [8|]

Pointing out someone's political attack M.O. might make them feel like they are being personally attacked if they do not actually recognize what they are doing.  But claiming "attack!" is also good ploy to attempt to quell recognition of what they are doing and preventing exposure of the "innocent little ole me" game of rhetoric.

tazzy is the master of the "who, me?" political attack post and thread - and pretty smart about it - so I suspect the second reason is the real reason that you "guys" want to claim some sort of nefariousness.

She's certainly entitled to use her passive-aggressive rhetorical techniques.  And I'm perfectly entitled to point them out.

And that's a fact, not an attack. [8D]

My impression is that all the GOP is concerned about is making Obama a one term president.

I'm not convinced they're trying all that hard to win. My gut feeling is they want things to get a little worse and try to take over in '16.

I think your gut is failing you. A year is a long time in politics, 5 years is an eternity. Obama is extremely vulnerable right now, and the business cycle will eventually mean some (albeit temporary) improvement in the economy despite his bumbling. To forego opportunities now with '16 so uncertain would be foolhardy. When the dust settles on the GOP primaries the general election campaigning will begin in earnest and your gut will likely change. In the unlikely event that the primaries are inconclusive enought that the convention could be meaningful, there will still be a step up in campaigning against Obama, but the all out assault wont happen until summer 2012.

Just like that all out assault they made in '08?

The RNC is PISSING the country away by not stepping up with a plan.

No, like the one in 2010 :)

And you know your second comment is bullshit. The Dems had total control for 2 years and refused to pass a budget, and now block everyting the House passes when it gets to the Senate. They may not be plans that are liked by that side of the aisle, but they are plans and they are clear, tenable and consistent with conservative principles.

You exhibit somewhat more intelligence than most of the libs on this site. Dont ruin that impression by denying the undeniable facts.

Thats your opinion, and your opinion, no matter how highly you think of yourself, does not equate to fact.

Now, address the OP ... you have yet to do so.

Wilbur, quit putting on your 'dumb act' You know damn well I was talking (as I have for months) about the fact that the RNC doesn't appear to be trying too hard to take the office of POTUS. there are probably 100,000,000 Republicans in this country. Do you think they could find an honest to God statesman among all those people? Obviously not from what I'm looking at every debate.
Maybe they need to hire some retired MLB scouts. Those people are famous for beating the bushes to uncover talent.
As for your second comment, why would you group someone who is so obviously pushing for a strong R candidate be grouped with the libs? Are you incapable of the realization that some people are independents and think for themselves?
Just because you apparently do not doesn't mean that noone else can.

tazzygirl -> RE: GOP cynics, the new breed? (11/29/2011 6:49:07 AM)

Hill, anytime a liberal attacks one Republican, we are automatically haters of all of them.

I was hoping to hear more from Huntsman myself.

There's your problem right there, Firm, you think too much.

You did what you accuse others of. And are we supposed to be trembling in our boots at your ability to shut down threads?
oh theres a big achievment to be strutting around!
ha[sm=alien.gif]
"Who, me?" political attacks, are YOUR confirmation bias bullshit exactly, look in the mirror to see it, actually dont because you wont.
Along with the gotcha, or pretension of others misunderstanding on what you say , You've got some nerve.
So pull your big spidey shorts up dood, and stop being so paranoid about liberal women being " nefarious" ...it could be a self fulfilling prophesy and we wouldn't want that now would we...

Now, address the OP ... you have yet to do so.

So, what my dear exactly is the "OP"?

I thought it was "Do you think the House GOP Republicans are a bunch of cynical sonsofbitches, too?  Please tell us why."

And you were so "coy" in not giving a link to the article, but "waited" until you got a response you thought you could use to your advantage, and saying that your "real" reasons for posting:

"I was waiting for that ...".

Passive-aggressive much?

How about your later attempt to defuse, redirect and regain the initiative, after I pointed out your intent:

So I asked for opinions... not on the RNC, not on the DNC, but on the House being taken over by cynics. Hell, its not even about the Senate or any Republican on the boards.

You want to talk about "the House being taken over by cynics", but don't want it to be about Republicans or Democrats?  Who took over the House in the last election, fucking fairies? [8|]

Hell, you specifically asked for it:

"This is for those who have been long term, conservative Republicans."

I ran across an article that stated the House has been taken over by a new group of cynics only concerned about the costs.

Pretty clear to anyone with even a quarter of a brain that your focus is on "Republicans as cynics".

Hell, just look at your dam thread title:  "GOP cynics, the new breed? "

But ... oh, nooooo, you aren't wanting to talk about Republicans, only cynics ....

Just more of your passive-aggressive BS.

And then you and your posse go into the "bad boy, Firm, bad boy!" and wag your fingers because I calmly point it out?

Hypocrisy, I know your names. [8|]

1. I responded directly to your "gut feeling" that they arent trying, and disagreed. How is that a "dumb act".
2. If you dont think that Romney and Gingrich are honest to god statesman then your ideological blinders need the shit scraped off them.
3. There wasnt a single moment in any debate that Obama would have had a better response for.
4. I dont know who I am grouping with whom in my second comment.
5. I am quite sure that independents can think for themselves, thats why Obama wont fool them again. I would look at your comment referenced in 2 above to see someone incapable of thinking for themselves.

Got to love how you read things through your anger glasses, Firm.

This is for those who have been long term, conservative Republicans.

I ran across an article that stated the House has been taken over by a new group of cynics only concerned about the costs.

Before I post a link to the article, I was curious if any would like to give their impressions upon this.

Now, try and address the OP, not your assumption of what the OP was.

quote:

Pretty clear to anyone with even a quarter of a brain that your focus is on "Republicans as cynics"

Then I suggest you speak to those who have at least half a brain because you are missing your quarter.

Why would you assume that a House having been taken over by cynics implies that long term Republicans are also cynics?

Thats why I wanted long term Republicans to answer specifically... because the newer breed has become cynics.

Perhaps you should read the article to understand just how off base you really are.

Missed this one.

Its not about the RNC....

its not about the Republicans on the boards, meaning here...

its about the Republicans in the House,

not about the Republicans in the Senate..

only those Republicans in the House.

Its not about the DNC

And if you had read the article you would have known all this.

I've done nothing but address the OP.  Just in a way that you don't like.

The real topic of your OP was not "Are Republicans cynics?".  You already have you belief about that.  This thread's topic is "How can I drum up some hatred against Republicans and gain a few brownie points with those that agree with me?".

Drumming up hatred is what the entire thread is about, not about whether or not "Republicans are cynics".

Busted.

No where did I say all Republicans were cynics.. just the new ones in the House.

Not my fault you cant read.

And all you have done is attack me from the onset.

You have yet to add a single line to the actual discussion... just insinuated over and over what you think I mean

Now, again, address the OP or leave the discussion.

Let's just hold back here people....I'm a Republican AND a cynic (can't speak for Termy)...every gawdamn one of these fucking pricks is a useless waste of human flesh (Republican or Democrat).

Every fucking one of these bastages is a waste of flesh.

I haven't voted (seriously) since Gore won the election.

Consider: I was (once) a Republican...but Gore won.

Like it or not.

He won...there's absolutely no debate on that subject.  End of discussion....my beliefs are really immaterial....Gore won...Bush lost.   Discussion ended.

I (once) believed in the system.....you vote...the guy with the most votes.....wins.

Gore won.

I didn't want him to win...but he did.

And he was not our next Prez.

Electoral college and all.....

I was fully ready to accept Gore as my Prez because.....I accepted the deal...most votes....etc.

He won.

As it turned out, he was not our next Prez (I'm sure he was quite happy with that outcome)...but he was the elected Prez....me being a Republican....it wasn't my ideal but.....he was the motherfucking Prez.

He was the gawdamned guy.

Since then, I haven't voted ... and I'll never vote again.

My vote....yours....doesn't mean shit.

Assume what you must but the facts prevail......YOU don't mean shit.

Anything you presume.....doesn't mean shit.

I was an idealist in my youth (3 years ago.....seems like 4....might have been 12 or more)...anyway....we don't mean shit.

Most importantly.....you don't mean shit.

You, me, your neighbor.....no one.

I wish it was otherwise.

JJ
