It is a bit bad, but I always wished Steve Milligan had suffered his autoerotic fatality after he became leader of the Conservative party (I think the only reason Hague got that was because Milligan had croaked), so I can relate.

As for Cain's supporters, they still won't believe anything even if he does 'fess up to everything. (Which he won't, will he?) These are people who seriously think Clinton was a rapist over some thoroughly debunked allegations an attention seeker invented...

True Moon,

People in high ranking positions or who are famous get all kinds of un-wanted attention.

From gifts to death threats, sexual advances and bribes to people begging money to making accusations.

The republicans knew the rape charge was bogus but that didn`t matter. What they wanted,...... was to be able to say there was an allegation of rape.

And with repugnant-republicans....they can pretty much do anything,..... with the excuse that Bill Clinton was accused of rape.

You are right as well Tolove.. I can get that, but there are also hotel rooms, flights, other things over 13 years, If she is credible it will come out, I dont auto assume he is guilty, because I know that being accused of something you didnt do is a horrendous indignity, not just to you but to everyone you love and live with and your family. If you have nothing but your "story" go against an accuser, you are going to look like shit and be found guilty, just because "there is no fire without smoke" attitude.
I actually can see out of the box on situations like these but please note I did say I had my tongue in my cheek.
I do believe this will do him in as far as a nomination goes. wether he is guilty or not.
he has too much going against him
the two harrassment agreements havent been debunked yet, Bialek I havent heard one way or another, and now this woman...
guilty or innocent, rightly or wrongly I dont think he stands a chance in hell.

Was just using your statement as a bounceboard for stating my opinion, and reasons for it.
I just get irritated by mudslinging in politics. And the progression of his accusations seems to be like it could be as psychologically manipulated as gas prices.
Lets make it really really bad, so everyone gets outraged and disbelieving.
Next, lets make it less bad... and suddenly everyone is ok with it, and finds it easier to think about.

Maybe not the best analogy, but it's what I have on short notice.

No clue. Just because I'm not sure who is behind something, doesn't mean I can't have suspicions someone is.

In this case there are a lot of people who would benefit from Cain disappearing from the race.
He might not be great, but he is less crazy then the majority of other republican options. So his humiliation would benefit any of the other republicans running for the nomination.
Even the democrats would probably like to see him gone, since the crazier the republican nominee is, the less likely they are to beat Obama.

Granted they all could have been paid. One would think with a lawyer like he has, financial records have been studied.

It could be a delayed payment. Once Cain is knocked out of the running, it wouldn't matter if they were shown to be bribed, he's already done for.

Or... well politicians do seem to be great with the sneaky movement of money.

I am just not seeing these women coming out now, when it will hurt him the most, as coincidental, or altruistic.
Even if it were true.

The claim that the lawyers statement about the issue not being appropriate for discussion being damning is way overstating the case. It is only damning if you want Cain to have had the affair.

There are people who`ll benefit if any of the candidates drop out.

They or anyone can try to manipulate events but it`s a stretch to say they can pull it off or have it go the way they want.

A little like trying to stop or control the tides.

Then they would be fools to take a delayed payment. After he is ruined, why pay them? To keep them quiet? Does anyone believe them now?

Newest Cain Accuser Has History of Financial Trouble

SOMETHING pays

Do you ever read what you post or do you just make assumptions based on the headline?

From your link:

WAGA reported that White provided documentation to support her claims, including cell phone records indicating calls and texts from Cain, some in the early morning hours. White also claimed Cain flew her to different cities and lavished her with gifts. "He made it very intriguing, very fun," White said. "It was something that took me away from my humdrum life at the time."

I have a male friend who I have known for years, who you would find over a years worth of calls and texts in my log from. He is my best friend and we always hang out when he is in town, we both stay up really late sometimes, so you will see texts occasionally at odd hours. At the times when I am broke, he often pays when we go out to eat, or do something, since as he puts it "he wants to eat where he wants to eat, not just where I can afford"(such hate against mickeyDs!) None of this means I ever have sex with him. Though he does get several stargate episodes worth of massage on occasion.

Is your friend:

- Married with children
- Republican
- Conservative
- Running for POTUS

?

I am:

- Liberal
- A Democrat
- Unmarried
- Believe in open relationships

But I would KICK HIS ASS if he paid another woman's rent without discussing it with me first, millionaire or no.

BREAKING: Cain ‘Reassessing’ Candidacy

In a conference call this morning, Herman Cain told his senior staff that he is “reassessing” whether to remain in the race. He will make his final decision “over the next several days.”

UPDATE: National Review was on the call. It lasted five minutes.

“Obviously, you’re all aware of this recent firestorm that hit the news yesterday,” Cain began, his voice somber. “First thing I want to do is say to you what I have said publicly: I deny those charges, unequivocally. Secondly, I have known this lady for a number of years. And thirdly, I have been attempting to help her financially because she was out of work and destitute, desperate. So, thinking that she was a friend — and I have helped many friends — I now know that she wasn’t the friend that I thought she was. But it was a just a friendship relationship.”

“That being said, obviously, this is cause for reassessment,” he continued. “As you know, during the summer we had to make some reassessments based upon our financial situation. We were able to hang in there; we reassessed the situation and kept on going. We also did a reassessment after the Iowa straw poll and we made another reassessment after the Florida straw poll. When the previous two accusations, false accusations, came about, we made another assessment. The way we handled those was, we continued on with our schedule. We made an assessment about what was going to happen to our support. But our supporters, and even some folks that we didn’t have as supporters, they stood with us, and they showed it not only in terms of their verbal support, they showed it in terms of their dollars.”

“Now, with this latest one, we have to do an assessment as to whether or not this is going to create too much of a cloud, in some people’s minds, as to whether or not they would be able to support us going forth,” Cain said.

“Over the next several days, we are going to continue with the schedule as usual,” he said. “I’ve got a major speech tonight at Hillsdale College on national security and foreign policy, and I will deliver it with vim, vigor, and enthusiasm. And then tomorrow we’ve got some media appearances scheduled. So we’re going to continue until we complete our assessment over the next several days.”

Bubbye Hermie???
But I thought all this was JUST a liberal race card attack conspiracy, a high tech lynching by Obama and Axelrod? well ok I didnt think it, but there are several here who swore it could be the only answer

And the best book tour/performance art piece to ever masquerade as a campaign for the Presidency enters its final days.
