It has been shown that trying to follow nthe proper channels just causing political theatre, and everything being bogged down. The method was drastic because how things are require some drastic measures. If we were actually dealing with honest statesmen (generic and not just males), instead of the way our politicians currently are, then the people may trust the government to actually handle things properly. That is not in place though, so the attention of many people must be gained.

Politicians work for their own interest, which is to be re-elected and keep the power they have. Corporations want to make the most money, so they want to persuade policy makers. The Extremely wealthy are the ones in charge of those corporations. You add this all together, with how things currently are, and there is no "proper" place to present these things but out in the open.

I agree that there are some ridiculous items, in my opinion at least, that have been attached to OWS demands, but there are many that are not. It is those common ground elements where you will see the true mix of people, from different walks of life, different political philosophies, and many that work, not criminals, and really are the average person; they have come together to show their frustration and grievance against the current status quo.

That really is the basis of a democracy, and if these people combine together as a voting block, it will be representative of what a republic will be. The founders of this country warned against the polarization that would happen when power elite can ignore being actual servants to the people.

Actually the point that the financial institutions combined with our politicians need to be held accountable for a few things is asking for accountability, and not just whining.

When your method of asking and your "asking" the wrong people, it becomes whining.

Nobody wants black spots on their record. No matter what the intentions are (good ones, as far as the OWS members are concerned) they are still people, and people do stupid things. One of those unavoidable things.

The occupants are already gettings tons of shit, this certainly doesn't help.

Unfortunately, i dont think it would be possible to run a background check on all who claim to be down for the cause.

Well then, how do you feel about the reports of OWS lead chanters discouraging rapes from being reported. And if drug addiction, alcohol abuse, rapes, sexual assaults, and violence is prevalent, shouldnt they all just go home?

Seems the republicans wish to label all by the actions of a few. Yet, when it was pointed out that the Republicans, among other things, have members who have admitted too, and been convicted, of crimes against children, they wish to turn a blind eye.

It cant be played both ways.

If they want to take the money out of politics, they need to STOP FUCKING VOTING FOR INCUMBENTS, AND PROTEST OUTSIDE THE LOBBYING FIRMS IN DC.

Im still curious as to why they should move to DC. They are getting lots of attention just where they are. Hard to be ignored when you are seen as attempting to hit the wallets of America... and elsewhere.

Police Steal Encampment Infrastructure, Continue to Make Occupy Less Safe

Occupy Boston has been working hard to keep Dewey Square a safe and well-ordered environment. Unfortunately, the Boston Police Department (BPD) is actively working to make that goal impossible. Last night (11/28), the BPD removed a newly built wooden pallet from our encampment, moments after we brought it into camp. At around 10:15 p.m., Devon, an occupier attending the Student General Assembly, spotted the BPD carrying the pallet away and snapped
a photo just before officers loaded this valuable piece of camp infrastructure into a police wagon. Watch this video to hear Devon’s detailed description of what he saw.
The pallet was meant to improve the walkways that run among the tents, to ensure that occupiers would not injure themselves traversing the encampment. It was part of our commitment to making Dewey Square an accessible space for free speech and a model for a better society.
In the past few weeks, the BPD has repeatedly prevented Occupy Boston from bringing in materials — including wooden pallets, winterized tents, insulation, and blankets — necessary to keep Boston occupiers the safe through the long winter. We are asking our supporters to call the BPD (617-343-4200) and the Mayor’s office (617-635-4500) to express outrage at the city’s efforts to make the occupation unlivable and unsafe for protesters.
You cannot evict an idea. Occupy Boston will continue to improve our community in Dewey Square. We ask that the BPD uphold their stated commitment to protecting public safety by allowing Occupy Boston to properly maintain and equip our encampment for the cold weather.

Typical Gestapo tactics. Can't believe anyone would be surprised. Heard they all got free Dunkin Donuts though

Everything seems better with free doughnuts.

Emma Lazarus taught us -- No, it was Emma Goldman who taught us: "If voting could change anything, they'd make it illegal"...

Emma Lazarus taught us other things.
