So I must ask as this is one discipline that I do not have any experience of, is that from what I understand the erotic interest comes from acting out in role.. So by that, where is the deep interest rooted in this RP? I know each is different, so I am hoping to unveil a variety of answers!

I also ask this has come up as an interest in the past by a sub, and I am certain that in my future it may come up again! LOL

Ponyplay speaks to me on a spiritual level. I believe a mare is my spirit animal, and I am made to toil as one. The beauty of the gear is a plus, of course. It turns so many into such elegant, beautiful creatures. I think it's one of the things that calls to others. There is a humiliation aspect for some, but I would adore being a Cart Pony and taking my Master around on the town. I would be so proud to stand as His mare. I will always long to be a ponygirl, as I have the heart of one.

Nyx, thanks for that link. I immediately noticed the Water Hole. Buck is a genuinely lovely man (never had the pleasure of interacting with him in Pony mode).

Some years ago I was invited along to a human pony show and having been a dressage trainer for many years, I thought it may be interesting to see how it bared up to the real equine world. The whole thing irritated me immensely. Movements were misinterpreted and overly compromised for the two legged beasties and the general handling didn't represent anything I was familiar with within the real horse world.
I then took it upon myself to find a pony girl, treat her like a real pony and coach her in dressage. What struck me was the depth of her submission. Oh she was feisty and she was capable of giving someone a hefty kick at times but under a firm and gentle hand she was just as enchanting as a real pony. She worked hard, she had to be realy fit to cope with some of those high school movements and as her trainer I had to understand her capabilities and know when she was ready to advance. Just like the real horse world, as her trainer I got a deep connection with her.
I was like her personal trainer with a difference and not only was it great fun but it was hugely rewarding. From the moment her head collar or bridle went on she became a pony and as a pony she was truly liberated.

The appeal of ponyplay? All of it. Serving, training, the gear.. For me, it's everything. It's all beautiful. I guess I can't explain it more than I did in my earlier comment.

The horse is a noble animal with strength, speed and grace.
I spoke to my pony girl a lot about what it was she got out of it. The thing that intrigued me was, her ability to reach out and embrace, what she described as, her spirit animal. It wasn't a game, more like a deep meditation. As a pony she felt her emotions become more balanced. She was able to connect with her physical, mental and emotional side more clearly.
Its not about being ruled by the whip. A lot of people are under the impression that pony play is ultimately about dominance and submission. I would argue that and say that its more like building a relationship that requires time and patience. Its about ultimate trust, reward (on both sides) and leadership.

Even though the horse can be domesticated, it's spirit forever roams into the far reaches of freedom ( Takatoka Manataka American Indian Council)
