It is ironic and actually funny that Brookfield Properties owes NYC back taxes. Brookfield is claiming this $139,000 bill is an accounting error on the part of NYC.

I'm not a betting person, but I would bet on this one that Brookfield ends up having this tax debt erased in some way. Afterall, Emporor Bloomberg's GF sits on the Brookfield board.
