The products used to manufacture meth are all, I would assume, taxed. If the end product could be packaged and sold, without a lost of votes to the politicians who allowed such, then it would be legal, no vote from the public required.

Quick reply: What is more concerning to me is what he will likely do with the money. He could very easily turn that $250,000 into a minimum of a million dollars inside 18 months, significantly more if he used the "right" investment vehicles to do so. He probably won't though, which is what we should find the most troubling.

States usually bring in gambling on the premise that the tax proceeds go to "education". Gambling is like drinking, some people get addicted. When I see people scratching those cards, I think about ramdom reinforcement experiments. I become a sucker when Megabucks or the Big Game have big pots (Exponentially lowering my chances!!).

If a state wants to run a lottery,cool. If a state doesn`t want to,that`s cool too.

We in the US are not taught nearly enough business in HS. Some say 10th grade, I say a start in the eight grade at least a start in business education. Maybe he'd then put most of it in the markets.

I'd like to see a little honesty about state lotteries. "Ok, we couldn't give a shite less about education we just need the fuckin' money!" And look at the dummies comming out of high schools and colleges! We need to spend a lot less money on "education!"

Here is the problem I have with state lotteries, and the government being in the gambling business at all. http://www.oregonlive.com/politics/index.ssf/2009/11/oregon_lottery_addicted_to_big.html The article talks about problem gamblers, and the disproportionate amount of money they "contribute" to the state. I don't think the states should be in the business of exploiting addicts. In addition, in many cases, there is a huge social cost. It isn't just a matter of not being able to pay the bills, it is a matter of people losing their homes, stealing from their employers, and making their families destitute.
