has anyone else noticed the usa network is slowly remaking them, one by one?

white collar is basically hardcastle and mccormick with a little remington steele

burn notice (for at least the first 3 seasons) was macguyver

psych is a low key slacker version of miami vice

meanwhile on tnt leverage is the a team

i literally cannot wait for them to get around to moonlighting

I used to love Moonlighting, and we can't forget Magnum. I loved the humour in those. They used to show loads of them over here in the '80s. [:)]

There was a movie that came out a bit more than 20 years ago. It was done in a film noir style, and it was really good (and pretty funny if I remember correctly) it wasn't who framed roger rabbit and it didn't have madonna in it. I wish I could remember that movie (and the name of it) because I'd love to watch it again.

Are you talking about a television movie, perhaps? "The Man With Bogart's Face"?

Peace and comfort,

FR

Yes...but older ones.   The Thin Man, one of my all time favorites, Agatha C., and of course, The Orient Express.  Love me some black and white detective movies!

I don't think so. It was funny but I don't think it had Steve Martin in it. I've actually been trying to think of this for a couple of days now, so good timing on the thread!
Although now that you mention it, it definitely did have a tongue in cheek tone, so...perhaps it Dead men...Idk...

I must be old because my favorite detective shows were: Columbo, Kojack, Baretta, and Mannix.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

hmmm.. maybe i am quirky but the shows i loved the most were The Avengers (Mrs Peel/Diana Rigg.. hubba hubba)... and The Prisioner, The Saint, shows like that.. or maybe it was that steely determination and those Brit accents.. (swoon)

I used to watch The Mod Squad religiously.

Thank you! Well spotted! I forgot about enjoying the old reruns of Roger Moore playing Simon Templar.

Peace and comfort,

Showing my vintage, but it is SO cool.

ETA Did you see the movie with Peter Faulk, 'The Cheap Detective"?

Awesome take on the detective yarn.

ETA again : Really, Lady Hib? Cool!

LadyHibiscus -> RE: is anyone else a fan of cheesy old detective/action shows? (12/11/2011 9:27:21 AM)

The Avengers. So much of my inner persona was based on Emma Peel!

LizDeluxe -> RE: is anyone else a fan of cheesy old detective/action shows? (12/11/2011 11:38:00 AM)

I like the old detective/cop shows like Cannon, Mannix, Hawaii 5-0 (the Jack Lord version), Streets of San Francisco and Rockford Files. They were all before my time so they are all new to me in syndication or on DVD.
