Wouldnt that be a hoot!

It is a plausable scenario. I would never have thought that the anti-Paul vote would be split among so many people, but it is. It might be enough for him to squeak through in Iowa. He could then turn that win into serious national consideration.

He would need to win. Would be a very strange election to have him and Trump as Independents running against Obama and a GOP nominee.

Trump isn't even a remote possibility at this point, is he?

His ego says he is... he is talking about.. maybe... running independent. All he would end up doing is pulling a small amount of votes from the GOP ... the conspiracy nut jobs.

I'm surprised that this topic has been here for over 3 hours and Icky hasn't pounced on it. I agree it would be an absolute hoot if Paul won Iowa.

Jim, forgive me for nitpicking but that is a 2 week average. It doesn't have a lot to do with what is actually happening today except that today's numbers are 7% of that. Paul was really low 2 weeks ago and it's entirely plausible that he is up near the top today as people get disgusted with the self proclaimed front runners.

I don't see any third party candidate as being viable.  If Trump ran, he's bleed off GOP voters.  I can see him suggesting a run as a way to get concessions from the RNC, but I have no idea what concessions he could get.
