It's very normal to fluctuate within 5lbs on a weekly basis.

Weigh yourself once every month, that will be a better way to gauge your weight loss.

Hey TFTB, "weigh" to go lol.  That is excellent work for this week.  Keep doing what you were doing and try and have consistent losses every week as long as its a loss, and you will be doing awesome.

Congrats on making the decision to do this.

TFTB, tell him to watch the gatorade many times it has as much if not more sugar than soda.

and it really is only meant to drink after hard work outs or something, not as a drink, drink.

TY by the way, i was so surprised to see the change, I was like wait a minute, is that right? I'm also hoping to cook something for my neighbors family cause she was seriously fucked up by a freak accident with her horse, and the dad is doing all the cooking and I figure he might like a cooking break.

Try sugar free powerade. A quart of gatorade has about 400 or so calories and after you work hard, you can slam that much is about 30 seconds if it's nice n cold. The sugar free powerade is just as good and has the same electrolytes.

Artificial sweeteners or stevia?
Artificial sweetener sends my tummy into convulsions. It's not good stuff.

Im not sure what's in it lily. I got it for one of the ball players that was staying in the house last summer because the team wanted him to slim down a bit and he was pounding 3 quarts of powerade a day. BANG, he started losing weight. It's amazing what happens when you eliminate 8000+ calories a week from your diet huh?

Good for you!!
The longest journeys are made one small step at a time. Stick to it and you will get where you're going one day.

Congratulations!  I bet that seeing how that small change in cooking rather than eating TV dinners has yielded great results is just the encouragement you needed to stay on that path.

When it comes to the more seriously overweight and those with diabetes or pre-diabetes, once a week is a valid check.  It isn't good to check every day, but once a week helps to keep things in perspective much better.

Females can have flucuations due to menstruation bloating as well, but when weighing in once a week, and taking into consideration if it is just before a period, etc.it is the best (and most recommended) method to see small changes that will encourage someone to continue with their diet, and also to see how a binge on Monday and Tuesday will show as a gain on Saturday morning.

TFB:  Always weigh yourself on the same day each week, first thing in the morning before breakfast.  It might also be helpful for you to write it on the calendar so you can visibly see your progress.  Consider keeping a food diary for a week or two so you can keep track of how much you are really eating.  This will help you to really see how the little things you might be snacking on add up over the course of the day.

Actually i disagree with the once a week or month concept when someone is first starting out -- i know about the mental thing, but to me, when i weigh daily and at the same time daily, it gives me an idea of what my body is doing every day, so i am aware of how it fluctuates, what foods may cause me to fluctuate etc.

YES, lol only do this if you have prepared yourself that every day won't be a loss because it can be disappointing, but to me, i think its important to see what your body is doing every day - but you should also do this in conjunction with keeping tract of what you have eaten and done every day with regard to work outs and exercise.

Losing weight is a habit that needs to be formed...Sometimes all it takes to start this habit of eating and exercise is a little reward such as a pound or two loss at the scale. Once you get started and the stomach starts shrinking it will be easier to resist temptations and weight loss will snowball and be easy to do.

Good luck

I'm diabetic and I avoid the sugar substitutes.  I've heard nasty stuff about their effect on the body.

TFTB, I'd suggest doing what I do.  I keep a lot of carbonated water handy.  I make a drink consisting of carbonated water, with ice to make it cold, and I top it off with fruit juice.  If it's one part juice to five parts water, it has a sixth the carbs of actual juice.
