Rumor has it that Boehner and McConnell are negotiating with the Canadians and at least two different oil companies.

One of the oil companies has to agree to build a refinery at Gitmo, and the Canadians will run the pipeline down there.

Since it will still be open and everything.....[:D]

WASHINGTON -- The Senate voted to extend a popular middle-class payroll tax cut for two months in a rare Saturday session, delaying until February a new showdown over the 2 percent break enjoyed for the last year by some 160 million Americans.

The measure passed easily, with a vote of 89 to 10, but Democrats and President Obama had to accept language that requires him to make a decision within 60 days on whether or not to proceed with the 1,700-mile Keystone XL oil pipeline from Canada to Texas. Obama had threatened to veto the extension if the pipeline was included.

Is there a medical treatment for a humor deficit?

FR

I believe you heard only part of the story.

Obama and the Democrats want the pipeline and the jobs it creates would be the single greatest achievement of the OA. Their union cronies will love them. So whats the problem?

The concern is really that the states where the pipeline DOESNT run will be jealous. So they are actually negotiating with the canucks to run the pipeline through all 49 NA states. It will create 10 times as many jobs, and every state will have skin in the game. The eminent domain issues are minor compared to the boost in votes for 2012. Their only problem is a portion of the pipeline will have to run around Manhattan, up and back down the Hudson River.
Chris Christie insists that it can only be laid in Hudson County, NJ without touching the rest of the state. Its the only place in the state where a toxic spill would actually be an improvement.

Damn!!!!! An outstanding analysis, and I truly thank you for improving my understanding of this issue.

It's clear that I need to rush out and buy some flatbed trailers (I've always been a van guy), and maybe some bulldozers. Tens of thousands of miles of pipe to be hauled, and OMG when that puppy hits WV, the grading.

We should probably invest in dynamite manufacturers, too. The tunnels thought the Rockies!!!! Obamao gwine make me rich!!! It be a booful thing!!!!
