Apparently you think my handle indicates I'm a plumber?

Sorry, didn't notice the handle. Didn't think twice about it either. I have seen Internet nicknames from Nine_Inch_Clit to Roswell_Escapee. Am I to give credence to every moniker on the Internet based on what it says?

As someone that is claiming to be a doctor (and I am not disputing that) I find it a bit disenchanting that you actually did use the phrase in a caustic and flippant manner. One would think that you would have a bit more compassion for those that suffer from depression.

This is not the time, nor the place for this discussion and I do not care to hijack your thread. If you want to continue this conversation, feel free to email me on the other side.

But if someone doesn't care enough to even bother to check what they've written ... they don't care if they have letters matching the background ... then they obviously don't have any "common" courtesy for the folks that they hope will read it.  It's not JUST about poor spelling & grammar ...it's also about not caring & an innate disrespect for others.  Why would I want to have a sub/slave/companion who, from the first moment when they should be trying to make a good impression, makes no effort to do so?

As an educated person, you have an advantage that some do not. You have apparently immersed yourself in etiquette and manners and have a sense of respect and dignity. Some are less fortunate than you. I would think that as a doctor, you would understand that and realize how trite your position sounds.

It isn't like your posting this thread is unique. These types of threads rank up there with the 'No one replies to my emails' and 'Are there any true subs/doms out there?' they sprout like weeds.

Why worry about someone else? If they aren't for you, move along.

*nods* I agree whole heartedly and its not just those that suffer from, but families that are trying to deal with them.... *shakes head*

Thank you, julia, but benji was making a funny, seeing this is benji.

Yeah, this could have been a thread on one's most solemn funeral memories and benji would still be benji lol.

LaMalinche -> RE: Random, albeit pervasive, stupidity (5/30/2006 6:42:03 AM)

Has Benji ever made a serious post?  Just curious.

gooddogbenji -> RE: Random, albeit pervasive, stupidity (5/30/2006 4:56:28 PM)

Yes I have, Miss LaMalinche.  Stop being so snooty.

Maybe, I don't know.  I think I may have, but I don't remember when.  But speaking of solemn funeral memories - A priest, a cowboy and a computer programmer walk into a bar................

Yours,

benji

I'm quite aware of not only the psychological symptoms, but also the long-term neurological changes in the brain caused by depression. But folks always have a logical choice ... to wallow in it ... or do something about it.

This bothered me sufficiently to revisit the topic. The pejorative 'wallow' implies the person has a choice and intimates the writer fails to understand this crippling emotional disease. In fact, 'choice' seldom enters the equation.

If a patient has broken bones or broken skin, that injury can be seen. But if a patient is broken emotionally, it doesn't show up in physical exams or X-rays. Even MRIs are too crude to show more than a passing difference of brain activity.

I trust that as we become more educated that we will not fall into the trap of judging what makes people tick… or not tick.

CreativeDominant -> RE: Random, albeit pervasive, stupidity (5/31/2006 7:15:38 AM)

I have little tolerance for poor spelling or grammatical errors myself.

That said, if I get a message from someone whose work is filled with these, I still look past them to the work to see what they are saying as the content is more important to me than the writing errors.

As for the depression statement that you made in a later post, I have to wonder at such a cynical attitude from anyone, given the abundance of information available today on the very real problem of depression.  Being involved in health care myself, I find it even more disconcerting that another doctor...if you are what your name implies...would feel this way.  Yes, some people who are 'mildly' depressed do need a "kick in the pants" to get past it.  Often though, those that appear to be 'wallowing' in their depression are, in actuality, unable to bring themselves to the state of 'excitation' needed to even get help.
