/snicker/

The GOP leaders have somehow managed the remarkable feat of being blamed for opposing a one-year extension of a tax holiday that they are surely going to pass. This is no easy double play.

Republicans have also achieved the small miracle of letting Mr. Obama position himself as an election-year tax cutter, although he's spent most of his Presidency promoting tax increases and he would hit the economy with one of the largest tax increases ever in 2013. This should be impossible.

Looks more like a slam on their strategy, and Obama's game playing. Big difference between that and slamming their policy, which in the end is what matters.

"But then Messrs. Boehner and McConnell were gulled into going behind closed doors with the President, who dragged out negotiations and later emerged to sandbag them with his blame-the-GOP and soak-the-rich re-election strategy."

tweakabelle -> RE: That liberal rag, the WSJ, slams Republicans (12/21/2011 8:51:44 PM)

Guys, I have to say: Putting our erudite friend on 'hide' was one of the best things I've done this year.

Iamsemisweet -> RE: That liberal rag, the WSJ, slams Republicans (12/21/2011 10:41:05 PM)

How anyone, even Wilbur, can justify such political grandstanding is beyond me

tazzygirl -> RE: That liberal rag, the WSJ, slams Republicans (12/21/2011 10:42:15 PM)

Because he has backed himself so far into the corner that he dare not try and get out of it now... even when he knows he is wrong.

DaddySatyr -> RE: That liberal rag, the WSJ, slams Republicans (12/21/2011 11:00:04 PM)

I must have pulled a "Rip Van Winkle". When did the WSJ become a liberal anything? I never remember that paper being anything but a conservative bird cage liner.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

It used to be quite the read for business students. Murdoch bought it and it has become a joke.

You wish. The repubs have been caught giving chutzpah a new name. Insisting that Bush t e m o r a r y tax cuts 80% of which went to the top 20% of earners totaling some 100's of billions, be made permanent while instead of 2 mo. extension on the $800 billion/yr. 150 0f which was over payment until now and suggest 1 whole year is as stupidly hypocritical as one can get.

Aside from the hyberbole the WSJ is politically correct but as usual...fiscally or financially self-serving.
