Hi guys. I've looked but can't find an answer to this question, but apologise if I've missed the blindingly obvious somewhere.

A Mistress messaged me saying she keeps her profile hidden on site, and would prefer me to message her on her private email. (Got great legs too.......) I've messaged her back to say I prefer to talk on here initially till we've established some trust and got the idea we're both genuine (Well, of course, I know I'M genuine; at least I was last time I checked...but you get my drift) I suspect this is just one of the many scams designed to collect email addresses; but I thought I'd just ask for the opinions of some of you other, well informed people out there. Do any genuine dom/mes operate in this way, and should I up the dose of my anti-paranoia tablets? Or is my best guess probably correct, and its just a scamming attempt?

Did she just happen to message you out of the blue, or did she mention something engaging in your
profile that caught her attention? With all the talk of the overwhelming amount of male subs vs
Dommes, I would be a little suspicious as to how I would have garnered her interest.

Of course, if you just can't resist the temptation to test your instincts, I would advise that you make a
dummy email account to continue corresponding with her. And use non identifying information in registering.

Thanks poise; no, sadly she didn't pick up on all the amazing things which help make my profile such a rich source of attraction to all the other dom/mes on the site! Indeed, she didn't appear on my 'Who's viewing you' list. I will think about the alternative email, although I have one already I tend to use mainly for bdsm contacts. I just prefer to have some idea to whom I'm giving it!

Azonier; you are SO wierd! But thanks for your advice, which I do heed. You are cute, tho!

It depends on the picker, really. The real problem comes from those that pick and flick.

I believe if someone messaged me who had a hidden profile, the first thing I would ask them is why they are hiding?

Personally, I don't "operate" this way because I believe there are many things you can say about yourself without revealing exactly who you are.
(And I don't mean packing your profile full of lies, either!)

I could say "I am very much a real Domme," but then I would be accused of being a fake merely because I made the claim of being "real." So I know enough not to say that publicly here, nor in private. So how does one know when they've come across a "real Domme?" I suppose the same way we Dommes know when we've come across a "real submissive." Through conversation. Through the way we are treated by them online. Through trusting our own intuition by experience.

The only thing I've been accused of when being met in person, is that I really AM the same offline as I am online... just as straightforward, self confident, and even humorous. And if that's the worst, than I am pleased. (Smiles)

Thank you Clickofheels. Again, perfectly right. Its SO bl**dy nice to get messaged by a dom/me, we subs turn a quick somersault or two. But as you say, its perfectly simple to maintain anonymity while retaining an online profile. So why would anyone genuine hide? I suppose I was just checking in with folk that I wasn't being excessively paranoid, and that there wasn't some good reason for her apparent shyness that I was missing.

I agree with you about how to tell if someone is 'real' through your interaction with them, online to begin with. I do tend to give people the benefit of the doubt initially, because I think some are always a little stilted in the early stages. And not everyone is easy with words, and in the written medium its harder to get across the subtler nuances of meaning. But fundamentally yes, its about the manner and type of conversation and the way people show respect and regard.

I can see the hiding maybe to avoid unwanted email. But how much harder is it to email back and forth here than in email? I'm sorta with you, I prefer to chat a bit in the place I meet them before moving into more personal contact situations.

If the profile is hidden it wont show up on the whos viewing me list, because the profile is hidden.

Many women especially ones who have only been here a day or two, tend to hide their profiles until they are off the new users list simply because 500 messages a day isnt really of interest to many people.

Wither or not you wish to chat with her in email is your choice, I know its difficult to send messages to people who do not have active profiles because you can only respond to them if they have sent a message. It might be she wishes to chat in what she feels is a more personal manner...

Wither shes real or not is all up to your definition of whats real... To me if its a human being on the other end regardless of wither they are male or female pretending to a be hippogriph isnt really the point, if its a message by a live human being they to me are real.

I hide my profile when I am tired of accepting emails. Usually, at that time, I am being overwhelmed with emails. It doesn't happen often but on some days, it is like everyone wants my attention. The longest I've hidden my profile was 4 days.
