I am SO hoping we don't get this again, this year. I've lived and driven in terrible winter weather in the NE for 40+ years, and never encountered this kind of madness. This location is about 5 minutes from me, and needless to say, this video went viral.

Fucking idiots... mostly in trucks thinking they can get through... oh missed, let me try that again! ROFL

After about ten years in Co... nine in Mi... I learned... you just can't trust people to be wise when their ego and cool car can do anything. I used to watch on the hill I lived on... heros trying to prove something. I didn't laugh at the ones simply caught on ice... been there, but those guys that think they can do anything with their truck or four wheel drive... I like watching them crash.

way back when, while I was still a truck(as in BIG TRUCK/Semi) driver, we were traveling down I-5 in WA. there had been a bad storm, causing iced roads, covered by powder.

as I (and another driver) were traveling south... VERRRRRRRRRRRRRRY slowly) we got passed by a couple in a jeep.

other driver to me on the CB: watch out, this guy is hauling ass
me, to other driver: yeah, we'll see him smashed against the wall, I bet.

next exit down, based on the tire tracks and body language we saw, the story was clear:

dude was hauling ass. GF told him it was being stupid. (they ended up doing a few 360s in front of us before stopping/stalling at the onramp, facing the wrong way, after bouncing off the guard rail)
as we passed them, we saw the GF shaking her fist at him, right up in his face.

me: fucking idiot,.. just because you have four wheel drive, all THAT means is that you have FOUR wheels to lose traction in these conditons~!

as my other truck and I creeped by in granny low..

I have lived in the North East (NYC area) most of my life and what amazes me is that when there's a light dusting of powder on the road, people slow to a crawl. I'm not talking about a 1/4 inch of covering here. I'm talking about where you can still see pavement as the wind blows the snow around.

Once there's an accumulation, people think they feel "traction" in the snow and it's Katy-Bar-The-Door time. It amazes me.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

Oh, that so gets on my nerves. Those overly-careful, slowpokes drive me nuts, and make driving for all of us so much more dangerous.

Where in NYC?

Where in NYC?

The only borough that matters .... The fourth largest city in America ... Kings' (as opposed to Queens') County until I was 15.

(Essentially) New Jersey, since. Please don't get me started on the idiots on the New Jersey Turnpike or, even worse; the Garden State Parkway which may have the most narrow lanes in the US.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

They tend to close my workplace the first day of the year it snows (if it does at all). In Alabama, any amount of snow means crazy accidents.

Last year we spent the winter hauling kids out of the ditch. No matter how often we said creep along in low gear, they didn't listen and got stuck. Including my daughter who has lived here all her life and ought to know better. By the end of it, the teen was the one hooking up the tow strap and directing which way to turn the wheel to get them out. At least he shouldn't do anything stupid on snow again.

He does have one smart friend though, came up here once and after that said the teen had to meet him on the road. He wasn't risking our driveway again.
