Michellin man Sensenbrenner had the nerve to call Michelle out?

Who posted that cartoon within the last few days of a man and a woman each looking in the mirror? The perceptions they have are the norm, I think.

ETA: I think we as a society have to work on getting people to see themselves realistically.

I have always enjoyed seeing what the FLs have worn.

Nancy Reagan..... classic!

Jackie Kennedy... another classic beauty... who ever said FLs didnt wear sleeveless outfits?

Barbara Bush... many women enjoyed seeing the classic way she dressed.

Laura Bush... a little more modern but still just as classic.

Hillary Clinton... I love this outfit on her.

Michelle Obama.. definitely a younger version of dress... but thats what they said about Jackie as well.

They have all work things that I thought were butt ugly... and others that were quite breathtaking.

The white dress is godawful, but who doesn't make unfortunate style choices once in a while?

In this case, Michelle Obama's ass.

http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/ticket/congressman-apologizes-criticizing-michelle-obama-large-posterior-183923894.html

A not-skinny Congressman, who obviously has no intention of following any of Michelle Obama's healthy foods initiative, criticized her physique.  As someone commented, there is no chance that the terminology he used was "large posterior".

He's following Rush Limbaugh, another sterling physical specimen, who also criticized the First Lady's figure.

1. FLOTUSes used to be off limits.  If they don't make policy, then they're largely window dressing.
2. The nation is overweight and has health issues.  Michelle exercises and eats healthy (not all the time, but still).  She's likely in better shape than 90+% of the population her age.  Why criticize her looks?  Hell, if someone overweight worked on their body as much as she did, it would be cruel to comment.  For someone to criticize someone with her figure... weird.
3. Sensenbrenner and Limbaugh are severely overweight.  Having them comment on a fit person as having a fat ass is bizarre.
4. Class, guys, class.  Remember it?
5. Doesn't he have important things to do?

Class went out the window years ago.

That's shameful.

I don't know if it came across in my last, but I think generally Michelle looks quite lovely.

Miserlou -> RE: Focusing on the issues. (12/25/2011 8:09:44 AM)

things like this make me embarrassed to be an american. what a bunch of idiots the rest of the world must think we are.

Moonhead -> RE: Focusing on the issues. (12/25/2011 8:52:05 AM)

Only those who think that this nonsense is part of the political debate, don't worry.

Miserlou -> RE: Focusing on the issues. (12/25/2011 9:03:07 AM)

that's what i'm worried about. this nonsense is the political debate these days.

Lucylastic -> RE: Focusing on the issues. (12/25/2011 9:38:06 AM)

those of us who aren't american, realise its only a fraction of amricans:) yes they are the ugliest, but theey certainly do not speak for the majority of aamericans.
I had that misconception several years ago, and while we get a lot of the idiots. Im very happy with my american expectations now.
Politicians are scum anywhere in the world

Miserlou, don't worry about being judged by "the rest of the world", they're worse than we are.
Besides, if some people in this country think the FL is a "fat-ass" it's none of the "rest of the world's" business anyway is it?
"The rest of the world" *doesn't* think as long as we keep sending their foreign aid checks.

.
Not really. It's more a bunch of cretins braying about everything else besides politics, then trying to use irrelevnaces as the basis for an attack because they aren't smart enough to discuss actual issues, or anything. I wouldn't let it bother you.
