As someone who has skin in the game (my eldest son is a combat Marine who was in Iraq), the most important promise he made was technically not kept. Senator/Candidate Obama said that he would make ending the war in Iraq a priority and it took him almost three years to do it. I am not saying that he didn't do it and I am thankful, beyond words, that it is over but if three years is priority status, I wonder how long it will take him to get to some of the other very important issues that face us. To be fair, I don't know if anyone from either party could have extracted us quickly (say within a year) but I didn't think I'd be waiting three years to see it end. In all fairness, some of President Obama's promises couldn't have been accomplished by him, anyway. There were a couple that mentioned a completion date ("Mission Accomplished!") of 2020 so, I don't even think those can be taken into account or counted as "not kept". The 2008 Presidential election was the first one for which I was eligible that I sat out. I have always felt it was my duty to vote but, in 2008, I just couldn't talk myself into pulling either lever. Neither candidate appealed to me enough to make me want them in the Whitehouse. So far, this year, I don't see any reason to run to the polls. Peace and comfort, Michael
