Here is a quote from a website that i frequent on occasion and happen to agree with. But i wonder what others within this lifestyle might have to say about it, so here it is for consideration...

Dedication

"You are never dedicated to something you have complete confidence in. No one is fanatically shouting that the sun is going to rise tomorrow. They know it's going to rise tomorrow. When people are fanatically dedicated to political or religious faiths or any other kinds of dogmas or goals, its always because these dogmas or goals are in doubt."

I guess I don't equate the word "dedication" with something you have to be "fanatical" about or "fight for" because something is in doubt. I can be dedicated to My job or My children, or even this lifestyle, without being fanatical about it. My dedication comes from a true belief that there are things that make Me feel happy and productive. For Me, it is easier to be dedicated to something that feels natural and right, as opposed to the short fight for a temporary cause.
So yes, you can be temporarily dedicated to something important that has an end, or you can be dedicated to something you believe in and you are trying to enlighten people through that work ( or dedication), or you can be dedicated to the things that bring order and serenity to your world. Dedication: focus...(and I don't have the dictionary out! LOL) Maybe someone else wants to do that job!
Am I making any sense?

Yes, You are making sense (to me). i guess it's a good idea to note how the word's meaning changes somewhat when thought of by degree. When i first read this quote, i had in mind someone fanatically religious. i've always been struck by how defensive they can get when You ask questions that test the truth. This goes back to my childhood when i went to Sunday school. i asked some questions and was quickly admonished for being "rude." But my mind kept thinking, "If it's the truth, what's there to be afraid of when asked a question?" Truth, if it is the truth, will have nothing to fear as it will always win out.

Admittedly this doesn't really apply to something like a slave's dedication but i thought it would be interesting to read the thoughts of others.
