We don't need more commentators of any sort. Dump the lot of them. We need actual journalists and analysts, not more opinions.

I agree and go further, the media are now cowards. There will never be another Watergate, they are scared they might ruffle the wrong feathers.

Presstitute. The OBL operation was very badly staged hoax. The seal team 6 definitely did not deserve being loaded into the helicopter and then blown up.

They are also fantastically incompetent. Follow up questions? Naw...just parrot what you're told.

Doesn't matter, I guess. Kooks today will believe it's all staged anyway, no matter what's reported.

Obviously the US hasn't heard of PJ O' Rourke.

Ah...I forgot that point....that in America, comedians are journalists.

You're missing the point

Because the left dominated media in this country wouldn't allow someone so insensitive to the Muslim people to broadcast this type of hate filled non politically correct  hate speech... You should know that Bill.

I'm afraid I'm not.

Now THIS is missing the point...of a conservative talk show with a fabricated crisis on ridiculous evidence.

Canned responses. America's answer to thinking.

If you think news stories are being broken in the conventional media then yes you are it is the polemicists in the blogosphere who hold sway now unless of course you are running with the sheeple. Guido Fawkes broke the story of the MP's expenses as the trad media was scared to run it, the story had been rumoured for over 6 months before he broke it on order-order.com These are the news makers not your hackneyed journo's feeding from the body politics ringpiece. Oh & it's all served with lashings of lovely irony. After all a political shit will survive an assault of facts but not an out & out attack on his ego.

They probably should've dragged BinLaden's ass back to NY for trial, this would let people know for sure he is dead, and nobody in the world would be bitching.

Yeah, it always kind of struck me as odd that they didn't extract him instead.

It's not as if he was better guarded, or less accessible, than the dozens of higher-profile targets that we've extracted in the Middle-East in our time there, without incident. Makes me question whether it's outside their intended expertise, or just outside their capabilities, or if they were simply applied with no understanding of... well, with no understanding, period.

It just dawned on me, I get more news from overseas than here. Between dailymail UK, Haaretz, the BBC....... Well Huffpo is in the US right ? AFP certainly is but it's not normal media, in fact I am reluctant to quote it here, someone might get hurt.

French, unless you're referring to a different AFP than the one that springs to mind when I hear AFP.

If you're curious about what the news look like around these parts, you could check out Dagsrevyen (NRK), Urix (NRK), Tagesschau (Erste), Rapport (SVT1), Aktuellt (SVT2) and Nyhetene (TV2). Rough translations, in order: "The Daily Review", "Foreign Affairs", "The Day's Show", "Report", "Currently" and "The News".

Le Monde is one of the best arguments for learning French.

Health,
al-Aswad.

A bit dated but a Brit commentator reflecting on the death of OBL.
funny as hell

Pat Condell is an excellent commentator and comedic writer. His view that the money for Pakistan, which is in reality to keep this nuclear power on side to a very minimal extent, is an interesting one, and lets face it, probably true...

its definitely up there Anax for being more fact than fiction

There's your problem right there. Said nothing of the sort. But facts would get in the way of making your pet point.

If you think blogs are the news, you've got additional confusions.

Of course, we can find a handful of good investigative reporters and analysts (not commentators), trad and not (and then the forum would argue about who's leftist and who's right wing). But that's not at all the point you raised. You posited a comedy writer. A good one, to be sure. But that was your point.

Don't forget there are plenty of friends the US doesn't have to buy but either way I doubt many think nuclear material in the hands of a Taliban style regime would be a good thing..
