DarkSteven -> Gingrich's toast. (12/28/2011 8:16:42 AM)

The idiot thought he could lie his way out of how he handled his first marriage: http://www.cnn.com/2011/12/27/politics/gingrich-divorce-file/index.html?hpt=hp_t2

1. His "proof" of what happened is his own word (for what that's worth), and a column written by his daughter.  He has claimed that he was filed on.

2. Countering him are the freaking court documents.  Newt has refused to answer questions about them, with good reason.

3. Two of Newt's acquaintances from that time backed up the account that Newt filed.

4. The cheap bastard refused to support his ex wife or his own daughters, and they had to beg for support to survive.

5. He was cheating on his first wife with his second while he was still married to #1.

He actually makes Trump look sober and restrained by comparison.

The GOP can do better.

But... But... But... Jesus Forgave Him!!! It's like at the end of Return of the Jedi -- where Anakin -- as he lay dying -- goes 'oh, man, I'm sorry for being a dick and murdering all children back in Revenge of the Sith and I guess those planets full of people, like Aalderaan, too..." and Luke forgave him.

DarkSteven -> RE: Gingrich's toast. (12/28/2011 8:24:48 AM)

Newt's not worried about Jesus.  IMO, had he been a genuine Christian, he would never have lived his life how he did.

He's got two hurdles: the GOP primary and the general.  I assume that the GOP, which is more family values-focused than the general electorate, will never stomach this.  They're already queasy about the three marriages and the adultery - having him lie about it and try to screw over his first wife won't help his cause.

The only way the GOP can win in November if the election is a referendum on Obama.  If Newt's the challenger, there's just too much dirt on him to let the rap on Obama to get airtime.

Musicmystery -> RE: Gingrich's toast. (12/28/2011 8:55:41 AM)

Newt was toast from the start, marriages not withstanding. He just hasn't faced it.

Old news, and it has nothing to do with his marital past. He was toast 3 weeks ago.

And cheating on the 2nd with the 3rd...........

Should be no big deal to find out who filed on who first.

It`s a matter of public record and if it isn`t,they could both show their respective paperwork and we can see which date is earlier.

Unless they filed at the same instant,one date will precede the other.And we know the woman was in bed when she found out about his intentions.

Couldn`t he have waited till she was out of the hospital?

He married one of his teachers who was a several years older than newt at the time.Oedipus syndrom?

Ten+ years and two daughters later,she didn`t look as hot as the youngsters he was seeing all around him in DC.

Him going for the "I`m a Christian...forgive me"ruse, is a bit thin.I don`t think the fundies like being taken for fools.Even if it means Mitt gets the nod.

This ain`t over tho.newty really thinks he can do this and Mitt hasn`t gotten the vetting the others have had............yet.

Anything is possible.Mitt basically NOT saying much and laying low won`t last forever.When he starts talking,he too could gaff himself to death.

newt`s not going to just quite when things looks bad.This is his last best chance and besides.......what else is he going to do?

Theres the campaign theme, Newtie, bill is in the mail.

Says it all.

Moonhead -> RE: Gingrich's toast. (12/28/2011 11:49:18 AM)

I suspect Newt's only hope at this point is another Republican My Lovely Horse campaign and the Donald fancying an even less credible running mate than himself...

Winterapple -> RE: Gingrich's toast. (12/28/2011 7:35:07 PM)

He cheated on the first with second while the first had cancer and cheated with the third while married to the second who was diagnosed
with MS. And there's nothing women voters
love more than a philandering trade her in
for a new model asshole who try to get out
of paying his child support.
Newt was also said to enjoy during his first
marriage that sex act that Clinton indulged
in because it got around the bible's
definition of adultry. Oh, and he's a egotistical
jerk who was/is loathed by his own kind.
I'm not impressed by the one daughter
helping him out. Daddy's very rich now and
will die someday no need for the second
stepmother to get it all.
I believe he's I've changed stance is based
on a conversion to Catholicism. He was
able to be married Catholic because the
first two wives weren't Catholic and he didn't
marry them in a Catholic church.
He shouldn't think voters will take a oh,
ok then stance. And being Catholic is
unlikely to win him much supporters amongst
the evangelicals. They're less paranoid
about Catholics than they were in the past,
Mormens agitate them more now but they
still are unlikely to get behind a Catholic
when they have so many fundie Protestants
to choose from.
Newt is toast. Day old burnt toast but he's
toast in denial.

He actually makes Trump look sober and restrained by comparison.

The GOP can do better.  MUUUUUUUCH better.

Newt never really felt that the rules applied to him. That's part of his problem. He's not stupid but he has major flaws and big blind spots - which is why he's not suitable Presidential material.
