Status: offline 		I'm in the market for a heavy-duty whiskey flask, something that will be filled by the user, carried on a daily basis, and hold contents 24/7. I originally gave him a stainless steel one six years ago, with a suitable engraving, and it now leaks so badly he has to keep it in a ziplock bag. Everything I've seen in the local stores seems as thin as what we started with, and I'd like to find something sturdy enough to last a lifetime this time around. There are lots of choices to be found online, but it is impossible to guage the quality.

It will carry a 10 letter word as the inscription.

Any ideas or suggestions?

How about asking at a liquor store or beer and wine store? You could probably find out online by using keyword search too.

Yes:  "My local Bar" (10 letters....and....depending on the bar, it'll always be top quality, and it'll never leak...might be too large to carry though...although, with those amazing vacuum pack bags I've seen on late night TV....all things are possible).

No, not really. The liquor stores (and the coffee houses, and the gift shops) all carry novelty items, and/or the same flimsy, stainless steel sort of things that wouldn't stand up to his level of use to begin with. I'm not getting search results that tell me about the quality of the build, or the guage of the steel. There are all sorts of really nifty decorative ones, but I want something that is going to spend every day of the next 30 years (God willing, and he keeps the Harley shiny side up) full of cheap whiskey, in the pocket of a guy who works hard, plays hard, and lives hard, and that will ultimately be confiscated by his great-grandson's vice principal.

Hence the thread being addressed to the drinkers among us.

Status: offline 		Thanks, Angelika. I had a nice looking pewter one myself, years ago, but the build quality wasn't good, and sure enough, it started leaking around the badge worked into the metal after a few years.

Yep. Crappy plastic, and thin stainless steel, and they wanted $4 more than at the liquor warehouse. Seriously, I didn't bring the question because I got zilch on my first google.

Surely we have a functional alcoholic or five around here with some good info.
