Owner59 -> newt gives up..... (12/31/2011 8:35:28 AM)

I can't do modern politics," Newt Gingrich told a Rotary Club breakfast early Friday morning here at a country club near downtown. An hour later, in a supermarket parking lot in the burgeoning new suburbs, Mitt Romney gave a demonstration of what constitutes "modern politics" in Iowa this year: a heavily financed, carefully advanced, camera-ready event with a colorful surrogate in tow, country music blaring, and a smooth if corny blend of partisan attacks and promises to bring business management skills to Washington.

The contrast was striking and instructive. A generation ago, Gingrich was the master of media-based warfare. This year he was tossed about by the game: rocketed to the top and back to earth in one month. At the Rotary Club, he waxed nostalgic about the old days, recalling -- in a sanitized way -- how he had run a "positive" campaign to take over the House based on his "Contract with America."

Wai wai wait a frick`n mintune.....Did he just say "positive campaign"?!?!![X(]

Ironic.  Newt was one of the people who created modern politics, and he can't handle what it evolved into.

Another reason he's out of place - campaigning is 24/7, all out, and Newt and Callista like to take vacations.

I remember his staged event.All his minions walking up one at a time to sign the oversized, television friendly "Contract".

With him as the father figure.

They actually ran on being more ethical than the dems, who had control of the HofRs for 40 years.

But from '94' on,under his and Hastert`s leadership,violations skyrocketed and ethics investegations plumited and we saw the most bizzare cascade of events from every guy accusing Clinton of adultry, being adulterers themseves to newty himself, quiting in disgrace.Mark Foley,David Vitter etc.

But this is telling.

Perhaps instead of being a make pretend historian,he should have become a make pretend media expert.

Perhaps then he would have a clue.Where has he been the last 15 years?

Maybe the media experts(the real ones) were correct after all when they said newt`s campaign is over.

They also say the Mitt is going to win. [sm=tired.gif]

I don't think he ever had any intention of finishing. I think he just likes the attention when he says he's going to run for something.
