I'm too new to CM to have any stories yet of people I've met from this site. However, I've been doing online chats since the days of the 2400 baud modem and dial-up BBS's and have found that most sites are a lot like any other community (in the geographical sense as well as the online forums sense); I've met a lot of great people, and just as many not-so-great ones. On the other hand, I have _never_ met anyone that turned out to be worthwhile when I've actively tried _looking_. All of my long lasting and solid friendships and relationships began with conversations where the focus of the talk was the common interest, rather than any direct interest in each other. Almost ironically, some of my better relationships even began with personality and/or opinion clashes that lead to passionate and hot-headed debates.
So I would say that hoping to get lucky and find someone on here (or anywhere, really) is more likely to just end in disappointment and frustration.. Which is not to say that you won't get "lucky," but that when you're _looking/hoping_ for it, you're really just trying to _make_ luck happen, which isn't how it works, right?
