Status: offline 		Cuffs aren't designed for sleeping in. And self bondage has limitations in safety and depravity.

Go shopping for proper medical restraints. They cost a bit more than cuffs, but they'll save you a metric butt-load in health costs over the long term, and you can be face down or face up, depending on how the coin lands.

And since the strap goes across a double bed, you can wake your partner by wiggling the strap.

Are you alone? If so you need a quick release for certain. i sleep in handcuffs every night and have for about 10 months. They are chained to the bed with a long heavy chain. My hands are in leather cuffs that are not likely to cut off circulation in the night while i sleep (i want to keep my hands) Behind the back is my favorite bondage position but NOT realistic for sleeping. It will overstretch the ligaments and tendons in you shoulders and eventually make you more likely to suffer a dislocated shoulder or rotator cuff tear. NOT good. i used to do physical therapy (now an RN) and that is NOT a good long term position.

i understand it is HOT to have your hands behind you back and i love it too- but you have to have your arms in front for sleep and long term. You CAN (i do) have them clipped together so there is little freedom and the chain is long enough to move around SOME in bed to allow for position changes also needed to some extent to avoid blood clots. If i work at it for a few moments i CAN loose myself to use the rest room without waking Him up which would make handcuffing a lot less attractive to Him. Being awake all night having to pee would make working a full time job impossible for me, so it is more practical to be capable of release besides it COULD be a safety issue. Being naked makes it hotter.

i have been in 2 house fires (neither our fault) so i won't tolerate anyone saying that's a long shot. i know personally a slave who's dominant had an emergency and they were trapped tied 4 point in the bed. A chance visitor saved him.

Master releases me every morning. Leather cuffs are lined and can be tightened enough to work on and work off with effort. Also there are neoprene cuffs that use velcro. Another option. Any questions- PM if you want

Status: offline 		If you DO get a partner- this is what we do. There is a house phone base station and my cell phone by the bed. He likes to get up and be alone in the early morning and sometimes He has insomnia and gets up at 3 am. He is retired so He can do that. i have to work full time so i have to keep sleeping on work days. When it is time to get up- i push the locate phone button on the house phone and it pages the remote phone. i cancel it after 2-3 rings and He comes in and releases me. If no answer i call his cell phone as He is then downstairs. i do not release myself. i love bondage a lot and if i were alone would still do it too. Being alone you have to be certain you can escape AND have a Plan "B" if something fails.

Status: offline 		One of the things I do when I have to be cuffed for long periods of time, I try to kind of do this weird angle thing where I'm on my stomach/side. I understand about sleeping on your side, it's just more comfy.
Talk to your Dominant/Master about possibly only doing one hand and working on it from there? That way instead of applying all the pressure on both arms, it's only one and you're able to get a good nights rest and be able to serve him properly in the morning?

That's how I would put it. Also while batting my eyelashes :3

Status: offline 		There's a reason why experts like Cops, only use cuffs for transport, not unconscious NC play.

Cuffs are narrow, rigid, and let you roll on top of them, or twist your wrists "the wrong way" risking nerve damage and deep vein thrombosis.

Non metal restraints might be twice the price, but they'll be cheaper in the long term, since you can't sue yourself for your medical bills.

Status: offline 		I've been sleeping cuffed (fur-lined leather) for about six months and I love it; my cuffs are hooked together to limit my movement and occasionlly - in the middle of the night - my Master will un-hook them which is my instruction for me to move my hands behind my back for re-hooking (and to fondle his penis).

I can't keep my hands behind my back for more than about a half-hour or so but I like the feeling of being cuffed throughout the night; so much so that I do so even when I sleep alone, in difference to my Master.

While I prefer her hands cuffed behind, the first priority is still to get a good night's sleep - for both of us. Which is why I use only a double-ended dog clip to lock the cuffs. That combined with the 'D' rings allows a reasonable separation of her wrists so as not to put so much strain on her shoulder joints.

Seems many here prefer the headboard but I always found that boring. While sleeping cuffed (behind) is fun and a good way to connect as D & s, I also enjoy her hands/arms on me, too; for those nights when I don't cuff her. It's all good....

Status: offline 		Personally, i would'nt even consider it, i prefer to sleep, though you might consider lying face down on a large sft pillow, to simulate another body, it could help!

Status: offline 		I work with arm injuries daily, and if you want to fuck up your shoulders, having your hands bound behind your back for an extended period of time is an awesome way to do it.

Protect your shoulders, people.

Try what Red Magic said. Make sure you've got some give in the rope or chain- like a foot.

Or if it's the confinement that turns you on, sleep in a cage. You're not really going to try to escape, are you?

If you're dead set on it, buy some Ibuprofen and anticipate the rotary cuff/nerve issues you'll have when you get older.

Status: offline 		I've slept with my hands cuffed in the front, and once over my head, but that didn't last because it's hard for me to sleep on my back. I don't have any suggestions on how, but I have a suggestion when it comes to safety.

Buy quick release cuffs. They come with a latch that will open them without the need of the keys, and even with your hands behind your back, they're easy to slip out of. Real cuffs can be used with a trusted partner, and I, for one, don't trust myself not to lose keys or whatever, which was the main reason I had a pair. They come in metal, which is the best part. And they're hella cheap!

Cut the handcuff's chain, then lock the cuffs chains to the sides of a belt, so your hands are at your sides. Corsets for kinksters actually have anchor points on the hips for this purpose. Otherwise Thigh, ankle or upper arm cuffs can be used as anchor points instead of the belt.

I am cuffed with the leather cuffs joined with a short chain, and then a longer chain running from the side of the bed to the centre of the chain on the cuffs. I can release myself if need be and my rules are when he is with me, he releases me and if I am alone unless it's an emergency I text and ask to release myself.

This works perfect and you wont notice its there after a while, in terms of dicomfort.
Cross your arms behind your back so that they are almost touching oppoiste elbows. Your forarms should rest against your spine, one arm stacked upon the other, this works perfect for both Handcuffs with chain and cuffs joined directly to each other, eg. Irish 8.
