I was raised in the Roman Catholic tradition of male ascendancy and exclusion of women from the priesthood. In my heart, though, I followed Sir Gawain and the other mythical knights, and took from them the notion that serving, defending, and pleasing a powerful woman was the highest calling a to which a man could aspire. Needless to say, I didn't get laid a lot, and was never completely consistent in practicing my beliefs. Then I met and courted the One who today I call my Queen, and whom I recently lost to cancer. While we were surely what would be called vanilla sexually, I had often thought and read about BDSM, and found some things frightening and some things fascinating. I have gone to a few local munches, but have never joined in any play. This will change soon. And I will post about my experiences. I hope that on CM I will find good conversation and friendship, and encouragement to jump into the pool and join the fun.
