When Japanese cars started making inroads into the Nth American market, there was a demand from within the US that they be locally constructed. Thus Toyota et al now have huge manufacturing plants in Nth America. GM has plants in Europe and Australia. And so on. So this is standard practice for the automotive industry.

Re technology transfer: I recently posted an item reporting a case of US Patriot missiles being shipped suspiciously to China by Israel. Yet it didn't attract any interest from the looney Right, not even a single remark. I'd be far more concerned about transferring missile technology to China than automotive technology if I was American. Of course there was no way of blaming Obama for that and anyways, the idea of criticising Israel for anything is unthinkable to many in the US.

It seems the the looney Right's indignation is becoming ever more selective and ever more hypocritical.

Been delightful chatting with you. Let's not do it again, though.

There is technology that weve paid to develop that has many other uses, this isnt just about these scrap iron Obamamobiles

If China wants this technology I say let them have it. $ 41,000 for a Chevy Volt and you wonder why no is buying them.

Isn't Oblunder's buddy's co., G.E. also moving some stuff to China? Radiology equipment?

This reminds me of how the Chinese gained so much ballistic missile technology from the Clintons back in the 1990s that theyre currently planning a manned moon mission

Didn't we put a man on the moon about forty years ago. Are you saying that the clinton gave the chinese technology that was more than forty years old?
What exactly are you trying to say?

the $19,000/vehicle subsidy that China is handing out doesnt hurt either, of course...

Doesn't it cost $4,000 to replace the batteries every four years or so?

How much would you pay for four years of gasoline for your ic engine in your car? Would that be more or less than the cost of charging and replacing the batteries every four years?

It seems the the looney Right's and looney Left's indignation is becoming ever more selective and ever more hypocritical.

Fixed for accuracy. I see this happen on both sides unfortunately.
