Is it standard operational procedure for police to come online, identify themselves as police and harass targets? I don't imagine that makes for very efficient sting operations. Hi, I'm a cop. I've had two different men write me claiming to be cops and asking me to do things to 'em. I treated them the same way I treat all men that send me notes like that ;) OP- my money is on bullshit, but even if they were a cop, who cares?
