Another thread gave me the idea for this one.

Am I the only person that doesn't have a video gaming system in the house nor an interest in buying one?

A computer IS a "video gaming system"!

But yeah, I know what you mean.

I have only had them in the house when the kids lived or visited for extended periods of time.  Between Treasure and I, we have six boys in our immediate family, all who are "gamers" (is there any young male nowadays who isn't?).

XD I actually own all of the newest consoles because I'm a HUGE gamer. Been playing for almost 20 years.

And Firm, I know a few guys who aren't gamers and are my age.
I also like the dual functionality of those systems. For my PS3 it's a literal home entertainment system. You can play video games, stream Netflix, put pictures, videos, watch Blu-ray, chat with old friends, and even browse the entertain (with a shitty browser mind you...).
I recommend a PS3 to anyone who is not a hardcore gamer. It's a great console.

Needless to say, I hate the load times on a PS3 and will play a 360 any day...It's just not a great dual function system.

I know, I'm so weird for not liking the idea of a Kindle or Nook, but love consoles :D

It is quite fun. And it technically is a video game :)

Even things like text based rpgs are considered video games if they're on a screen. Some of the earliest video games were just words on a screen that played out like a "choose your own story" book.
The earliest video game to date, as far as we know was pong on the Brown Box, BEFORE the Atari. Then came a game called Maze, which was the earliest FPS.

Rose~ I'm the same way. I'm a gamer, but my books are sacred and will never be read electronically! I want to turn pages.

aside from my solitaire games on the PC, and mahjongg on the lappy, I do NOT own a gaming SYSTEM. Somewhere, I have a Gameboy Clear (for which I only have tetris and mario). Mom has a Wii that she never uses, and I KINDA wish I could have it, but not really. I tell myself I wanna use it for Wii Fit, but really, it would collect as much dust and cat hair HERE as it does at her place.

You don't want a Wii for fitness. You want a 360 and a Kinect. They do a lot of more core work-outs and actually do more to keep you in shape. The best games to get would be things like E.A Active 2.0 for the Kinect, and also games like Your Shape. Those are fantastic at doing things more meant for Core workouts. Even UFC Trainer is pretty good.

Wii Fit is great only for balance. The yoga is okay, but the "strength" and "Cardio" is too basic and doesn't give much more. Plus with most of the workout games for the Wii, you're stuck holding the controller while for the 360 Kinect, you're HANDS free. It just reads you.
Avoid games such as:
Kinect Sports
Body and Brain Connection
Fighters Caged
Not only are they not work out games, the two bottom ones are kind of lame.

Another one to look at would possibly be a dancing game, Just Dance 3 or Dance Central 1 or 2 are pretty good.

Whew. Rant over.

LOL SR!! actually my point was that ANY gaming system would end up tucked into a corner or a closet and not get used. Unless we're talking the old Atari games... SPACE INVADERS FTW!!!

Well, I don't know where you're from, but around here there's a franchise known as Play n Trade and they sell old stuff from old Xbox to Atari. Even NES. They have a machine I want to buy that can play NES and SNES games.

But yeah, you can buy Atari and games from Play n Trade or Amazon. Don't go eBay. Been ripped off there sooo many times.

I'm a huge gamer. Obviously.

No, you are not alone.

Wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy back when my kids were still young and living at home, we had whatever the latest and greatest was. But that's been nearly 15 years ago.

I'm going to ignore the lack of Super Mario Bro's being mentioned in here, and assume it's because it's just a given that it's all time the best game ever.

I dont play games on my computer, (maybe mahjong once a month)
I do tend to use it just for work, email and CM.
I prefer to check out programs and get lost in those for days.

I have a nintendo DS that I play modded and have something like 40 games. But I only play three games on it,:)
I miss my commodore 64 games in the UK (which never worked over here*sad face*and I miss the SNES (mario, & donkey kong country ROCK)
My boys have a wii, and a 360, they never went to the PS. Now they mostly play online on their PCs
There just wasnt time to play with 3 younguns crawling around so I never got the bug hard, which is probably a good thing considering how much time I do actually spend on the computer.
I keep meaning to unzip my skyrim but just not enough hours in the day.

I play Pogo on my computer, don't feel the need for a console.  I might save up for a PS3 just so I can buy Blu-Ray movies and shows for my video collection.

Lizard has a few consoles for her collection. I noticed a PS3, N64 and a few others.  I knew playing FFI while pregnant with her had to start something.
