If you havent watched this video you dont know how stupid stupid gets...

Hint - the guy on the right has a clue... you can tell by the look on his face that Mathews has lost his freaking mind! [:D]

tazzygirl -> RE: Christ Mathews & MSNBC - Over-The-Top Stupid (1/9/2012 9:33:05 PM)

One issue was Santorum’s opposition to the Supreme Court’s 1965 ruling that invalidated a Connecticut law banning contraception. Santorum said he still feels that a state should be able to make such laws.

“The state has a right to do that, I have never questioned that the state has a right to do that. It is not a constitutional right, the state has the right to pass whatever statues they have. That is the thing I have said about the activism of the Supreme Court, they are creating rights, and they should be left up to the people to decide,” he said.

“You shouldn’t create constitutional rights when states do dumb things,” Santorum said. “Let the people decide if the states are doing dumb things get rid of the legislature and replace them as opposed to creating constitutional laws that have consequences that were before them.”

Here is the reference... 2006 statement by Santorum.

Newsbusters = rightybullshity

tazzygirl -> RE: Christ Mathews & MSNBC - Over-The-Top Stupid (1/9/2012 10:29:00 PM)

Mine didnt come from there. Sorry, I should have posted the source.

http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012/01/santorum-explains-06-loss-still-supports-state-right-to-outlaw-contraception/

I see two problems here.

First, the issue of what was said.

Second, the accuracy of the statement.

Thats even before you can get into what Chris Matthews said.

However, I do find it amusing that Sanity called him "Christ"

DomKen -> RE: Christ Mathews & MSNBC - Over-The-Top Stupid (1/9/2012 11:28:21 PM)

Santorum is what is known as a Dominionist. He most definitely wants a theocracy to replace our Constitution.

erieangel -> RE: Christ Mathews & MSNBC - Over-The-Top Stupid (1/9/2012 11:31:42 PM)

Rick has been touting states rights to ban contraceptives when a part of the Supreme Court decision was based on an individual's right to chose to use it.  Ricky is saying the states should have more rights than each individual.

DaddySatyr -> RE: Christ Mathews & MSNBC - Over-The-Top Stupid (1/9/2012 11:41:13 PM)

Poor Chris. At one time, he appeared to be the "heir apparent" to replace Tom Brokaw. Now, he's just drooling and making stuff up to suit his agenda.

This is the kind of person that people point to when they claim that the entire media has a left-leaning bias.

No matter what the original quote was (I didn't see/hear it), the video clearly has Sen. Santorum stating one thing and Mathews insisting that the senator said something almost completely different.

I feel bad for Chris. I feel worse for America.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

Exactly, everytime I hear his name I'm thinking; "what did he do now, compromise national security?" "Get busted in an airport men's room?" "Cause MSNBC's ratings to go down again?"
For some reason he reminds me of "someone's" unqualified nephew.
Doesn't anyone JUST REPORT THE FUCKING NEWS anymore?

in short

men and women have rights

persons owned by men and women have privileges and immunities

states governments have "authority"  NOT rights, nor privileges and immunities

Democracy IS the force of MOB under color of "authority" presumed to be greater than the individual.

as a side note:
quote:

In court the MOB state is a single person owned by the individuals of the corporation.

Just another one of a zillion paradoxes in law, or the lack of.

the supreme court cannot create a right.

rights are prerogative and declared by the claimant.

Hence the last part of the 10th

Funny, it rates right up there with FOX news, the bullshit falls on both sides.

Why do the people who continually rail against the perceived threat of Islam doing this find it's OK from the extreme Christian right?

Do states have that, or any, right?

Rick Santorum on Birth Control 2006 interview
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9MBO9tNNejo
not a believer in artifical birth control
Views on contraception on "Today interview) 29 dec 2011

PS the only person who thinks Chris is the face of MSNBC and actually the only person who brings up his "rants" are the OP.
The fact that santorums views are not the issue and a talking heads rant is, IS the scary part

mnottertail -> RE: Christ Mathews & MSNBC - Over-The-Top Stupid (1/10/2012 1:34:03 PM)

It was hard to pick out who was stupider, Oreilly, Santorum or Traynor or whatever that fools name it, Mathews was schooling them fools hah?
