For all of you who are tired of dealing with fakes and con artists, know that there are genuine people here who are what they say and who truly need BDSM. I found my slave on CM and it’s more than I ever hoped for in a slave.

There are a few simple things one can do to check the sincerity of a potential slave/sub. After some initial period, if someone is not willing to verify that they are vaguely who they purport to be, for example traits like their sex, age, weight, by some anonymous means such as a voice chat, or going on cam clothed while hiding their face (again they don’t have to worry about being identified this way), then more than likely they are not who they say they are. Another simple means is to have them take a photo while holding a sheet with your name on it, or some other message you tell them. If they say that they don’t have a cam or mic or a digital camera (which is in almost every cell phone), then red flags should go off.

It’s understandable that people want to protect their privacy. However, any serious person should be willing after a reasonable amount of time, to show some small measure of verification.

Will that assure that they don't have a spouse they aren't serious about when they are seeking someone else's ass... because I really need to know that one.

Oh and can you tell if they lie about things? Or if they paid their taxes? Nothing worse than having a poor beggar that didn't pay his taxes expecting you to cover their other expenses to pay big brother. I also would like to know if they have paid their child support faithfully or expected mommy to take the burden. Its also helpful to know if they have done time because you can't always tell by the hair style and tattoos. Are they kind to wait staff or really rude? Would they help a family member in need? Volunteer somewhere?

Humm... I guess maybe... I better trust myself, my gut... and actually meet them at some point, because that cam, that phone and every other thing one can do to figure out if someone is being honest isn't going to tell me much of the really important things that would actually have an effect upon my adult life.

Fuck it... I have to be an adult and I'm not even a rocket scientist! This sucks!

Personally, I am willing to forgive the whole camera in the phone thing because my phone does not have a camera. I do own a digital camera (and most of the ladies I meet wish that I didn't. I keep hearing things like: "I should've just enjoyed the illusion").

What I like to do is I tell them to include some photo of them (they have to know someone that owns a camera), holding a copy of USA Today with a small personal message to me scawled on it while not obscuring the date when they send me their filled-in application form (those are available upon request, ladies).

The form includes full name, mother's maiden name, address(es) until the age of 18 (so I can check their school records), SSN (so I can check their criminal record), and photocopies of their birth certificate and driver's license (with the date of birth and address clearly visible).

Those claiming to be college graduates need to send me their college transcripts and a photo of their diploma.

Only after all of this is done can the interview process begin.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

What I talked about is a first step, certainly not the only steps to take. A general rule is if they lie in the beginning, they'll lie later on. So for example, if they lie to you about their age in the beginning, they're more than likely not serious about surrendering to you.

Well... I get that, but what I don't get is you and many others that come to post the same thing, would think we wouldn't get that. There is something wrong with that. Elementary online basics my dear.

Yes it is fairly elementary, yet from the profiles I've read with people complaining so much about the many fakes and imposters, some people don't know or need reminding.

There are people who give out their SSN to complete strangers? It's a shame you're only accepting the applications of idiots, then. Just sayin.

I guess I need to go back to using the [sarcasm][/sarcasm] or [snark][/snark] tags, again. Sorry if I didn't make it obvious that I was kidding.

I will agree, though, anyone dumb enough to give out their SSN is not someone with whom I would want to spend any kind of serious time.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

There's an interesting story behind that photo, ladies. The short version is: I wasn't prepared for a photo to be taken (it was one of those sneaky "phone cameras") and the lady that took the photo said something that ilicited a "You're kidding, right?" look. ETA: I thought the look went perfectly with the caption under the photo (which, unfortunately, can't be read, here). It reads: "The amount of "fuck" I do not give is immeasurable"

Peace and comfort,

Michael

I too, have noticed people on here go on, and on, and on about fakes. Who are all these fake people of whom they speak? Are they mannequins that join CM like some episode of "The Twilight Zone"? People who lost their souls to the Devil?

I on the other hand, have decided to embrace the fake. To own it. I look for the fake people (all the coolest people on here are fake). I myself am a fake. I am the fakest fake that ever faked a profile. I engage in Fakism. It is like realism, only it is nothing like it... it is the opposite. Fake people of Collar Me, unite!!

Okay, what do you have for those that lie to themselves, rush into something with someone that gives off red flags even to them and do it anyway? How about those here for a day or so and collared, owned or under consideration of some online domly dom that has controlled submissives for twenty six years? Some of those bitching were doing stupid to begin with.

I especially like the guy that just got divorced and is still angry, getting pissed because the babe twenty years younger than he is won't read or respond to his mail. Yeah... I like that one best.

Sometimes, people are their own worst enemy and of course they blame that on someone else. This is an adult site... being adult and accountable goes a long way.

huh....I met Master, sight unseen. Never saw a photo other than a far away blurry pic that told me nothing really and yet here we are six years later.

Ya know I simply talked to him, got to know him, met him with absolutely no expectations except a mini vacation whether he decided to show up or not, whether he turned out to be who he said he was or not.

Imo the problem is not whether someone is fake or not, it's making someone up in your head and expecting that when/if you meet them.

You know I read threads like this and I'm somewhat surprised I haven't seen threads on security questions. I wouldn't be at all surprised.

I don't have problems with people being fake, lying to me, trying to deceive me, scam me or whatever. Ask me to go on webcam and I'll tell you to go get knotted.

Seriously.

Maybe I'm a dinosaur, or old fashioned, but my techniques haven't changed that much since the 1980's when there weren't any webcams, cellphones, or the Internet.

I use my noggin, give people the benefit of the doubt, take people at face value, and if it doesn't work out I don't throw an almighty wobbly like an adult three year old - I just deal with it.

Maybe the problem isn't all the liars and the fakes, maybe the problem is people taking themselves too damn seriously and expecting everything on demand as if it's there on a Burger King menu.

Maybe that's one difference between a sub/slave and a Dom/Master, not caring if someone they are trying to form a D/s relationship with is trying to deceive them or not, or more generally accepting someone trying to take advantage of them. I doubt if most people throw a fit like a three year old about the fakery but certainly a lot of sincere people and especially new people to sites like CM get discouraged and often leave because of it.
