ORIGINAL: darq And for the record, I don't feel Catholics are seperate, however, Christians didn't burn people ... Catholics did. Protestants didn't. Baptists didn't. Methodists didn't. etc etc etc And frankly, those Catholics who participated in the burning and such were pretty glaringly NOT Christians. What? are you mad? Perhaps a hundred thousand people were executed during the witch trilas in Europe (some put the figure at the RIDICULOUS number of nine million, but that is pure fantasy). People were most often strangeled or hanged during this period THEN burned, but quite a number were burned alive. Of the countries that did this, the top three worst (in no particular order) were France (Catholic), Spain (also Catholic) and Germany - NOT Catholic, but Protestant. There were also the Puritains in Salem that hanged people (though not burned). And a WHOLE LIST of atrocities visted upon the Irish people during the Cromweillian years and beyond that included the burning of many people by Presbyterians and Anglicans (Catholics too). I'll bet if you look into Byzantine history as well, you can dig up plenty of violence perpetrated on and by Christian Orthodox faiths as well. I will DEFINATLY agree on your most important point though, from what I can gather from the teachings of Christianity, this is not Christian. fergus
