MissImmortalPain, Thank you for the link it had some interesting information. They do say that the first step to ride one of these is to ride a conventional unicycle. Then try to ride holding the post in front of you. They also say that the side to side motion is required to prevent rubbing the wheel. That is something I did not consider. With a conventional unicycle the fork and crank arms act as barriers to rubbing the wheel with your legs. FrostedFlake, I can see where he could get hurt doing the stuff in the video. Especially the high wall and the jump mounts. But I believe there is very small risk to learning a conventional unicycle. You just step off if you lose your balance. The unicycle will fall and the nose of the seat will take a beating but you just run/stumble away and remount. The link confirmed that when they said that the way to get hurt is to stay with it to try to save it. Also, as you correctly pointed out, you cannot go very fast. So even when I have fallen the worse has been that I just scraped myself up. You are correct of course the rider in the video is very good and makes it look easy. I still think it would be fun to try, not because it is easy, but precisely because it would be an interesting challenge.
