I personally don't like Valentine's day it's the commercialization of love the one time of the year where love is reduced to a being a cheap way for bueracrats and corporate America to make money. Not mention you always see these happy go lucky people always smiling and going on about happy they are and how their love is so perfect and could never be broken it makes me want to hurl.

I used to feel that way about V-Day because I was bitter and resentful about it.  Now I enjoy it.  We have a lot of fun on V-Day.

I don't dislike any holiday.  I'm a fan of having a special day to have fun, or of having fun on non-holidays, too!  I just like to have fun.

To ME, Valentine's Day isn't even a real holiday. I ignore it. My least favourite is Easter. It's lame at best. I am not religious and it means nothing at all to me. But it seems to be important to a lot of people I know, even those that are less inclined to religioun than I. Which then makes it feel hypocritical and nasty.

Easter IS lame.  Don't even get a damn day off for that one.
My least favorites are the "Hallmark Holidays", Mother's Day and Father's Day.  Valentines Day is kind of an HH too, but I do tend to exchange gifts with whoever I am in a relationship with anyway.

Ya, the whole Mother's Day and Father's Day kinda gig, I put in the same category as Valentine's Day. I ignore them completely. I've never made an effort to celebrate any of them.

I also agree with MnOttertail. Xmas is one of my least favs just because of the commercialization. Halloween I tend to ignore as it means nothing to me.

I used to really hate Mother's Day because it was a reminder to me that I didn't get kids, even though I wanted them so badly.  Plus, there was always an assumption by my siblings (who had kids) that I'd take care of Mom that day, since they were busy with their kids.

But now, it's fun.  My mom & I get along great, and we use that day to honor each other and have some fun together.  She has renamed it "Mother-Daughter" day, and tells me how much she appreciates me, as I tell her the same.

It really is!!  She felt bad because she knew it was a painful holiday for me, and I felt bad because the rest of her kids (4 others) weren't stepping up.

So right after my Dad died and when I was going through my divorce (around the same time, about 5 years ago), we decided to make it OUR day. And it's been awesome.

I started to hate Christmas when I was about 18, the prezzies became shit. Loved this one to bits as boy is 7 yrs old & his prezzies were awesome even for an old fart like me.

I like Vday. Then again I'm in a relationship and a romantic. I like Easter because it holds a lot of traditions I had with my family and it holds special religious meaning for me. I like Christmas for the same reason.

I don't think there are any holidays that I dislike. I guess the closest I come is Fathers Day. I feel sad on that day because my father has passed on and I miss him and it's more apparent on that day and my husband has passed on as well and I have a child to him so it's sad that she doesn't have her dad around for her.

Holidays like Veterans and Memorial Day I'm indifferent about.

Oh and I like Mom's Day because I have a daughter who would always serve me breakfast in bed when she was little and now that she's grown she always makes sure to do something for me, even if it's just a call to remind me that she does love me.

My birthday...it depends. Some years I enjoy it, other years I hate it and other years I'm indifferent. I'll be 40 in two weeks and I'm not sure how I feel about this year's lol. It's between dread and excitement...not sure which.

Groundhog day has pretty much always pissed me off. I mean, we are letting a rodent determine our weather?

Of course, now that I live in San Diego, it's not so much of an issue as it was when I lived in the frozen hell most call Minnesota.

We do get an outrageous amount of public holidays as well as the standard award 4 weeks min paid leave a year.
