Rather... Was he the guy who got CBS kicked out of Canada?

tazzygirl -> RE: Teabaggers proudly support the ban on free speech (1/14/2012 4:38:53 PM)

Was CBS the one who did the following?

In 2003, the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) rejected a Canadian Cable Telecommunications Association (CCTA) application to bring Fox News to Canada because Fox News U.S. and Global Television were planning to create Fox News Canada, a combination of U.S. and Canadian news. However in 2004, after a Fox U.S. executive said there were no plans to create the combined channel, the CRTC approved an application to bring Fox News to Canada.[77]

Fox News Channel is currently offered by Access Communications, Bell TV, Cogeco, Eastlink, Manitoba Telecom Services, Rogers, SaskTel, Shaw Cable, Shaw Direct and Telus TV. A notable exception is Vidéotron, Canada’s third largest cable company, which has not added Fox News Channel to its lineup.

........

The run-up to the licensing of Sun TV News spurred passionate debate about whether Canadians will embrace a news channel modelled on the successful Fox News Channel in the U.S.

Quebecor Media¹s chances of landing a license for the upstart cable channel were dealt a blow when it was revealed that Canadian prime minister Stephen Harper and representatives of Quebecor Media had secretly lunched in New York City with Rupert Murdoch and Fox News president Roger Ailes.

That forced Peladeau to disavow any links between Sun TV News and Fox News, as critics claimed, or that Harper¹s conservative government had conspired to bring a Fox-style news channel to Canada.

TheHeretic -> RE: Teabaggers proudly support the ban on free speech (1/14/2012 5:28:38 PM)

Seriously, Lucy. If Fox can't come to Canada because "they lie," what sanctions did CBS encounter after Rather's little incident with the forgeries?

tazzygirl -> RE: Teabaggers proudly support the ban on free speech (1/14/2012 5:34:23 PM)

If I remember correctly, CBS believed the documents were true.

TheHeretic -> RE: Teabaggers proudly support the ban on free speech (1/14/2012 5:47:42 PM)

Tazzy, did you see those pages they were showing on TV? They were blatantly obvious forgeries, straight out of Microsoft Word. Incompetence is an additional problem, not an excuse.

oh LMAO
well it would help if you got a clue about what actually happened with the company in question.
The company didnt have a license, they applied for one, they were denied.
I dont believe CBS Broadcast from canada. If they do , please provide a source, I have other things to do.
We get Fox in Canada, is that what you were getting confused with? the actual BROADCAST location?

tazzygirl -> RE: Teabaggers proudly support the ban on free speech (1/14/2012 5:53:04 PM)

In Canada, CBS, like all major American TV networks, is carried in the basic program package of all cable and satellite providers. The broadcast is shown almost exactly the same in Canada as in the United States. However, CBS's programming on Canadian cable and satellite systems are subject to the practice of "simsubbing", in which a signal of a Canadian station is placed over CBS's signal, if the programming at that time is the same. As well, many Canadians live close enough to a major American city to pick up the over the air broadcast signal of an American CBS affiliate with an antenna.

Seems like none of the major ones do.

Lucylastic -> RE: Teabaggers proudly support the ban on free speech (1/14/2012 5:54:59 PM)

I can get cbs, but its not broadcast FROM inside Canada

tazzygirl -> RE: Teabaggers proudly support the ban on free speech (1/14/2012 5:58:22 PM)

Thats what I meant hun. Seems like none of them broadcast from Canada. Guess Fox wanted to be the only one. Do you know if any others have asked?

Lucylastic -> RE: Teabaggers proudly support the ban on free speech (1/14/2012 6:02:25 PM)

I dont have a clue, I might have a look :)I dont like the CRTC for unrelated issues so I tend not to take note

Why are the fucking asswipes at Faux still on the air, after all their forgeries?  Isn't that really the question? Why the right wants to ban free speech for CBS news......

This thread is about American free speech, not about Canadian free speech, start your own fuckin thread....

I can show you guys your little posts, but I will give you a chance to come clean and admit that you are for banning free speech in all networks but your little ignorant imbecilic don't know where egypt is (by mistake), riots over russian elections in greece (by mistake), lawless republican goon and thug violently hurling his mother to her certain deat as OWS (by mistake).....

Please do that, Ron. Find me endorsing censorship. Go right ahead. I respect the need for miltary and diplomatic secrecy, but other than that, you are SOL.

You could try the "everybody is responsible for everybody else" theme, I suppose, but given the standard set with the toe-tapping smear you love so much, even my recent outburst won't keep the Owner59 quotes I have lined up from dropping in your lap (and you might want to put on some old bib overalls first, cuz they are nasty and will splatter).

tazzygirl -> RE: Teabaggers proudly support the ban on free speech (1/15/2012 4:44:49 PM)

Rich. Is it misunderstood that Fox can continue to broadcast their news into Canada?

There is a couple for you to begin your vermiformations.  I will let you do your little tapdance, tell me how you really didnt endorse it, although I will then ask you to make the same statements about all commentators on Faux Nuze  (cuz they are the face of it).

Remember its not endorsing censorship to call them liars, and say you are glad that they are being disdained, since they, the face of evening news for the neo-cons, have broached the public trust.

And my smear (if you can call the truth a smear) comes way behind all of yours in the time line. But my 'smears' have the absolute property of being true, and I can show you Idahos Larry Craig, and a host of others hypocrisy, same way.

And you can do whatever the fuck you want about quoting Owner59 in yout own fuckin thread, it is off topic here.

He is not a teabagger supporting a ban on free speech. In fact your toe tapping is a quite a bit wide of the topic, but I indulged you for a post.

Then we will see what comes next.

Dance? Ron, neither of your links have anything to do with any call for censorship. I am continuing the public shaming of a permanently disgraced hack

Go ahead, try again. I'm fascinated by this path you want to go down.
